Krauss at the recent AAI convention in LA. Great talk, it mentions the origin and fate of the universe, and also mentions how the universe most likely came from "nothing" according to QM, which we touched on with the spammer pimping his blog a while ago here.
He goes on about dark matter and dark energy which if you haven't read/heard about, is a great introduction, but even if you already know, there's a couple of implications that I hadn't heard before, like how the universe will look like in a hundred billion years and what conclusions could scientists then come up with (won't spoil it, it was pretty mind-blowing for me). It will probably change your perception of what "unknowable" means.
I'd heard this talk before at another conference, but this version is better.

By the way, Norm, as a side note. Is it possible to make the post space width a bit wider, most of these youtube videos which default at 480px without border (and 500px with) get a little cut off on the right. Not a big deal, but I had to modify this one to 435px wide cause of that.
that was (insert cliched superlative here).
thanks for this, i wouldn't have found it in my usual internet peregrinations.
another jew, btw. totally jewish thinking, humor, delivery, approach. my favorite quote:
"by nothing i don't mean nothing, i mean NOTHING."
You know it never occurred to me anything about the Jews or Krauss being Jewish. Jewish "thinking, humor, delivery, approach"? I'm not sure about that...
Why are you so obsessed with seeing Jew in everything?
gee, i have no idea. i'm only here for the kicks. and i don't trust anyone who's here for any other reason.
his 1 min. critique of string theory is pretty devastating. i was always impressed with the string theory thang.
on the other hand, he gets totally annoying after 35 min., when he starts to get serious. so there.
the q and a at the end is great. and watching him make his "pitch" at the end in dawkin's direction was priceless- and sad, in a way. ( to paraphrase: "the fact that every single event since the dawn of time has been statistically improbable, becoming exponentially more improbable as "time" unfolds, may make us unique ["rare"] but not "special".
hah. by nothing i don't mean nothing, i mean nothing.
atheists: get off your high horse, humanity.
other humans: but we like it here!
