Uncle Sam Lyrics and Music by Duane Murrin Listen to a recording of this song from the demo album! Well - Uncle Sam's gonna say good-bye Bye bye to you and I Uncle Sam's gonna say good-bye Bye bye to you and I He's gonna post his picture on every door Sign up now let's go to war Don't get fooled like you did before He ain't gonna point at me no more He's gonna give us guns, gonna give us tools Gonna send us to enforces his rules But as we sail to some troubled land Be sure he'll stand just a waving his hand And it's one two three what are we fighting for Don't ask - don't give a damn Next stop, Iraq again And it's five, six, seven - open up the pearly gates Well there ain't no time to wonder why - whoopee we're all going to die. Post his picture on every door Sign up now lets go to war Don't get fooled like you did before He ain't gonna point at me no more Line up on recording: Lead Vocal: Duane Murrin Back Up Vocals: everyone! Fiddle - Megan Adam Tenor Banjo - Ben Rogalsky Guitars: Sean Morton & Duane Murrin Accordion: Alison Jenkins Bodrhan: Jonathon Teague Stand-up Bass: Russell Sholberg
Addtl notes: A different recording of this song appears on the Flying Folk Army demo CD. Uncle Sam was originally written in 1991 at the outset of the bombing of Iraq. Since the Flying Folk Army has been performing it, we have had to change the lyrics (that reference where the US is currently bombing) three different times to reflect the "new" war wherever it may be - We thank Country Joe and the Fish for the musical clip that we borrowed for this song. As long as wars go on - there must be protest! before this place really bursts
