Coffee Cup

As one of the commenters on the Science site pointed out, the reporter for Science completely muffed the job in the "Bonobos Join Chimps as Closest Human Relatives" story. It was already well-established that chimps and humans have a common anscestor that dates back 6 million years (give or take a million or two). It was also well-established that chimps and bonobos diverged much more recently (they're of the same genus, after all). It is therefore NOT news that bonobos and humans are just as closely related as chimps and humans - because chimps and bonobos must share the same common anscestor with humans!

Good point, thanks for making it.
