Hasa Diga Eebowai

Somehow this cut didn't make it to a Disney movie. I thought the South Park movie was brilliant... seems I'll have to go to the theater for this when they tour around LA.

In this part of Africa we all have a saying, whenever something bad happens we just throw our hands to the sky and say "Hasa Diga Eebowai".

nice production!

something i figured out when i was like, 12: poor atheists! they are cut off from the catharsis of true blasphemy!".

because, you know, if there's no god to blaspheme against, then "blasphemy" is kind of hollow and stupid and hypocritical childish attention-seeking behaviour.:)

but it does make for some wonderful "art" and i wouldn't have it any other way. i feel kind of bad for the atheists who don't realize what they're doing, though. it's like "fuck you, flying spaghetti monster!!" duh.

not to take away from the musical and lyrical fun on offer here, of course- my feet tap of their own accord like anyone else who likes this kind of stuff, and i appreciate a hearty "fuck you, god" too-as i'm pretty sure god does- in any case s/he is unmoved by it :)- but i feel bad for my atheist brothers and sisters (that is, the REAL ones) who will never know the pleasure and satisfaction to be derived from saying "fuck you" to a REAL god. :)

Hah, that's a good point. I probably wouldn't enjoy being an atheist nearly as much if I hadn't been brought up as a good Calvinist.

oh the dreaded double post disease! let's go for a triple.

I started to listen to this with earphones on and when my wife looked at me oddly (as if to say, whatsup?), I took them off and played it for her too. She didn't appreciate it - and if I'd known what was coming I wouldn't have removed the earphones and would have spared myself an argument.

As for JB's sideways/patronizing critique - well, we should expect no less. I gotta say that I've heard that a lot of Mormons like the show and if that's true then my respect for them is raised in an odd sort of way. Imagine the shitstorm we'll see when these guys do a full length musical on Scientology.

Oops, sorry Tim. I liked it more as Disney blasphemy than god blasphemy. Or is the wife a rabid Disney fan?

JB,

if there's no god to blaspheme against, then "blasphemy" is kind of hollow and stupid and hypocritical childish attention-seeking behaviour.:)

Kinda hard to make fun of you guys without blasphemy.

JB's interpretation - taking seriously the idea that it is God being mocked!

Or is the wife a rabid Disney fan?

She's not a fan of assf&&ng and, like 99% of women I know, hates the the c-word used in almost any context.

Being a regular Pharyngula reader, I understand the c-word thing, but I don't think it counts when you actually mean the c-thing, and not using it as an insult, for instance.

BTW, forgot to put it in the post, but it was tweeted by this guy as "possibly the greatest song since Schubert's Forelle". So blame him.
