Red's Election Roundup

See? You see what happens when you young liberal voters get so disgruntled and disillusioned that you drop all your party's newborn, hard-won ideas about Hope™ and Change™, without any patience, without really giving them sufficient time to mature, without understanding that hugely foreign, anti-American concept known as "the long view"?

How many "tea-partiers" actually won? I think Christine O'Donnell, Ken Buck, and Sharron Angle actually cost the GOP control of the Senate. In each case, had a standard GOP corporatist run been on the general election ballot, it seems likely that the Democrat would have been beaten. Joe Miller looks to have lost in a write-in campaign by the incumbent GOP moron, Lisa Murkowski. Rand Paul was the only really visible 'tea-partier' who ran for the Senate and won - and while he's clearly a fanatic, he's probably the most intelligent of the tea-partiers who ran for Senate.

I don't really have a fix on how many of the GOP house seats really went to 'tea-partiers', so maybe there they helped the GOP. It is also likely that the whole billionaire-funded "grass-roots" campaign by the tea party helped up GOP turnout, but if you think about the mess that Obama inherited, the general results of this election were pretty much predictable back in November, 2008. The American people are pissed off and the party in power pays the price when they're pissed off. The deep recession in 1981 wasn't Reagan's fault, but the Dems did well in 1982. The decay of the middle class, the dumbing down and corporate emasculation of the American press/media, the financial meltdown, and Wall Street domination of the US economy – these really are the fruit of Reagan's shitty philosophy, but the American people haven't the slightest idea what's going on or who is responsible for the state we're in.

This comment keeps disappearing.

I am not sure how many exactly either.

Tea bag folks generally lost on the state level except for PA and FL.

I think they had better success on the congressional level and some more success on the state legislative level.

There's much debate about whether that Galafiajoint was real. People say Maher wouldn't have passed on it if it was.

Eh, I think bill likes his job and his money too much to draw that much fire. He has gottened burned before.
