Franken is absolutely correct. I wonder how many people appreciate the straightforward facts and logic, and lack of ideological ranting and political equivocating? But woe is me, I can already hear the shrill rebuttals: "The government can't protect freedoms, only take them away! Freedom is bending over for your corporate overlords, resistance is futile! God said so!" And so on.
The machinations of the big corporations seem inexorable. It is hard not to see Franken's words as warnings of inevitable doom that will ultimately go unheeded until we find ourselves in a grim totalitarian future.
I guess I just woke up on the pessimistic side of the bed today. Or maybe the screwed up audio in the YouTube clip gave me a headache and put me in a bad mood.
