Black-chinned Hummingbirds

I finally figured out how to get a decent shot of the hummingbirds that visit. I moved their feeder farther from the other feeders, they are a little shy around other birds, and fine-tuned the birdcam settings. This is the Black-chinned Hummingbird.

Thanks to Walter the BirdNerd for help with the identification.

Comments

Not much of a comment, but i just want to thank you for all these photographs of little birds. Please keep posting them—one little bird a day keeps the blues away!

Thanks, I will continue to post bird pictures periodically. I'm glad you're enjoying them, I think it's a nice edition to the blog. I actually had one reader send me an email basically asking me why I was wasting time posting bird pictures. I told him I always post whatever I'm currently interested in, and that it was birds. I've had a feeder for years, well mostly my wife keeps the feeder going for us, but after I got the Birdcam and discovered what great pictures it takes I became more involved. The reaction to the pictures has been entirely positive with the one exception. Ah well, you can't please them all, all the time.

I was enjoying the bird photos until I saw these earlier today:

Now when I see your birds I can't help but picture them caked in sludge and suffocating. Don't mean to be a bummer. If anything, it's great to have your photos to remind us of the fragile beauty of our world.

The page can't be found, not even if I copy the whole thing and paste it into the browser. Wonder what's up with that.

He didn't put brackets around it < >

Thanks; don't know why the copy/paste thing didn't work. Those pictures are pretty sad. Coated in oil, the pelicans look sad themselves.
