Gypsy's 3 on the return week

More favorites, reminiscent of - but explicitly for - Spring. We're having pre-June today in Des Moines and I just cannot resist.

Robert Schumann Symphony No. 3 in E flat Major "Rhenish" - our bi-polar Renaissance man was all happy when he wrote this one. True, there is a funeral movement, but it's counteracted by the finale. Here's Christoph von Dohnányi with Cleveland. There are other good recordings out there as well, but it's getting tough to find samples, especially the free kind. Jarvi on youtube

Igor Stravinsky Pulcinella ballet suite - based on music of Pergolesi. This stuff makes me pretty happy, so I hope it does the same for you. Pierre Boulez is conducting the BBC Orchestra. Mehta on youtube

Ludwig van Beethoven Symphony No. 6 in F Major "Pastorale" - I'm caving into the typical expectation here, but I think it's worth the mild transgression. Paavo Jarvi conducts the Deutsches Kammerphilharmonie Bremen. period instrument performances on youtube

Thanks, all the links are switched around though.

Oh really?

Ya can't trust a gypsy sister on April Fools Day.

Oh, um, yeah... did you take seriously my comment?

April Fools!

meh - it was the best joke I could come up with...not nearly effective as the year a boyfriend and I moved stickers from one locker to the next around midnight March 31st.

Not your fault, 6 days out of the week, I don't know which is. Bring dates into the equation and I don't know where I'm standing.

Every week I get a free mini-lesson in musical appreciation . . . cool!

I just listened to the Pulcinella, and now I'm happy too.

glad to know that y'all are enjoying --
