  • Nobel Prize for Promises? by Howard Zinn
I was dismayed when I heard Obama was given the Nobel Peace Prize. A shock, really, to think that a president carrying on wars in two countries and launching military action in a third country (Pakistan), would be given a peace prize. But then I recalled that Woodrow Wilson, Theodore Roosevelt and Henry Kissinger had all received Nobel Peace Prizes. The Nobel Committee is famous for its superficial estimates and for its susceptibility to rhetoric and empty gestures, while ignoring blatant violations of world peace.

  • Barack Obama adviser says Sharia Law is misunderstood
President Barack Obama's adviser on Muslim affairs, Dalia Mogahed, has provoked controversy by appearing on a British television show hosted by a member of an extremist group to talk about Sharia Law.

  • Darwin’s Rottweiler
Richard Dawkins on his tense relations with those who believe in God.

Is there anything else I've missed? I would be glad if you didn't use the word "strident." I'm getting a little bit tired of it.

I've read your books and I would not disagree with that characterization.
OK. Well, let me plant one idea in your head. When somebody offers an opinion about anything other than religion—say, politics or economics or football—they will use language that is no more or less outspoken than mine, and it isn't called strident. As soon as it's an atheistic opinion, immediately the adjective "strident" is attached to it, almost as though the word atheist can't be used without the preceding adjective "strident." You wouldn't talk about a strident Christian.

  • Ode To Pro-Rape Republicans
Thirty Senate Republicans voted to keep rape victims who work for defense contractors from having their day in court. How? By voting against an Al Franken-proposed amendment to the 2010 Defense Appropriations Bill that would withhold defense contracts from companies (like Dick Cheney’s KBR) “if they restrict their employees from taking workplace sexual assault, battery and discrimination cases to court.”

Franken was inspired to sponsor this amendment by the ordeal of Jamie Leigh Jones, who was gang-raped by her co-workers while working for Halliburton/KBR in Baghdad. A clause in Jones’ KBR employment contract made employer-friendly private arbitration her only recourse, precluding Jones from seeking justice in court.

re: sharia law- do i, the token israeli here, even have to say anything? this is exactly what we, and you americans, and even the europeans in their pussified way are fighting. what the fuck is your problem? why do you think we should give in to this racist/sexist crapola? you're next, you know.

    A volunteer token?

why do you think we should give in to this racist/sexist crapola?

It's religion and all religions have value. Don't you know.

Fifty-nine percent Americans polled agree that "all religions have validity" and only twelve percent agree that "mine is the only true religion."

this is wonderful news. what does it have to do with anything i said? i mean, who gives a shit about what benighted americans think about religious validity? the muslims surely don't.

we have to put up with it because its religious sexist crapola and current thinking seems to be that we should see all religions as valid rather than one being right means the rest would have to be wrong.

and barry wants to know "what the muslims want from us" and hires this stupid bitch to tell him. wtf? isn't it clear already?

The Nobel Peace Prize should be awarded for a person's contribution towards life. It is unfortunate that Obama received this prize, as he is responsible for taking away lives via his abortion policies.

sounds like something a drifter would say.

HIS abortion policies? What does that even mean?
