For those of you who have never lived here, that's roughly a month's rent for an apartment in Brooklyn, Queens, or the Bronx (Staten Island is to New York City as Texas is to the United States, so I don't know about S.I.). I pay $1,300 a month to keep a roof over my head in Brooklyn, which is fairly average for a one-bedroom or studio apt. here (double that for Manhattan).
So next time you hear a player or owner mouthing the bromide about how the game is for the fans, remember that.
Naturally, the taxpayers subsidized the building of the stadium to the tune of somewhere between $550 million and $850 million. I wonder if Steinbrenner has spoken out about the creep of socialism into our lives?
Great point.
Just another reason to hate the Yankees.
Go Cubs!
Quite frankly, ADS pay for the game more than tickets do. Maybe that revenue has gone down recently, but ticket revenue is just a way of spreading the pain so the higher ups get more dough.
