Well friends, it looks like we made it.
That which does not kill us makes us stronger.
This reminds me of something I thought during the election, when the Republicans were claiming that they were better at the whole security thing. Didn't 9/11 happen on their watch?
The idea that because "terrists" didn't attack on his watch (at least after 9/11 when he supposedly woke up) reminds me of this blatant fallacy from The Simpsons:
Homer: "Not a bear in sight. The Bear Patrol must be working like a charm." Lisa: "That's specious reasoning, Dad." Homer: "Thank you, dear." Lisa: "By your logic I could claim that this rock keeps tigers away." Homer: "Oh, how does it work?" Lisa: "It doesn't work." Homer: "Uh-huh." Lisa: "It's just a stupid rock." Homer: "Uh-huh." Lisa: "But I don't see any tigers around, do you?" Homer: ... Homer: "Lisa, I want to buy your rock."
Good analogy, re: Homer, but I think it's totally false that "Bush kept us safe"- what about the Anthrax attacks? They happened on American soil, after 9/11, didn't they?
Funny how they have been completely forgotten.
