Countdown w/Keith Olbermann
Keith's latest book is Truth and Consequences: Special Comments on the Bush Administration's War on American Values

Those wacky evangelicals. I think most people who are extremely religious on the right feel the exact same as this guy.

Battle of the Gods. Its like Greek Mythology.

I am so done with religious people...can't these morons just get over their egos about things that in reality amount to absolutely nothing? MY God is more powerful than YOUR God. MY Dad can beat up YOUR Dad. MY patriotism is more pure than YOUR patriotism. MY football team is better than YOUR football team. I mean go read a book for Fucks Sake! Seriously!

Or, as the immortal Carlin had it: My God's dick is bigger than your God's.

I agree, this guy is a nut, but his nuttiness goes deeper than the my god is bigger than your god thing--Keith nailed when he said if "McCain doesn't win, God, it's your ass!" One of the lesser known pastoral traditions, petitioning God with threats... So this "preacher" is offending all the world's religions, including his own.

When they are winning, they are monotheists. When they are losing, they recognize competing gods.

"When they are winning, they are monotheists. When they are losing, they recognize competing gods."

Brilliantly put...although I do find it amusing how this pastor feels the need to lecture his own God...the way he puts his own political desires so clearly before his own faith.

Did anyone get a chance on here to see Religulous yet? They aren't playing it where I live, and I am dieing to know what this blog thinks of it?

I believe there is a thread on this topic on the Forum

Maybe when Obama wins the election, they'll kick God out of the Republican party...

Funny this didn't make the cut this week.

Hmmm but wasnt this guy speaking at an actual mccain rally, while farrakhan was just speaking? You must see a difference there.

Obviously both comments are pretty disturbing, but if one guy was asked to speak at their rally....

Who organized this mccain rally?

Sure there is a difference - one guy actually preaches that Obama is God.

Stepping up to the troll plate again, eh Syn?

I reject your reality and substitute my own. The pastor opening John McCain's rally is just as crazy as this obama supporter over here, See, Parity!

I wear my troll hat with pride! I'm the only thing stopping you from becoming as deranged as Olbermann.

Well, at least you're a Funny troll.

"Sure there is a difference - one guy actually preaches that Obama is God."

No difference, they are both equally diluted and insane.

Really? One side begs for God's help to win and one side claims their candidate actually is God? I agree both are insane, but equally? You don't have to admit it here, but I sincerely hope you don't believe that.

Both religious exhortations are awful, but for Obama's record, Farrakhan was on his own, not at a rally.

I had come across the NOI clip somewhere else on the blog - probably where you posted it - and couldn't bear to watch more than 15 seconds.

I am sorry, but whether you're claiming Obama is God, or your claiming that a man named Jesus was God, they are both equally absurd and irrational claims. Their is no proof to back up either one of them.

Cute response, Syngas, which allows you the luxory of saying how you really feel.

Oh Please ----

The big problem here is this guy was speaking at a McCain rally. People who were waiting to listen to McCain heard this guy first. It bothered McCain enough (who arrived later) that he distanced himself from this nut. Religious figures should NEVER electioneer. This guy's church should lose it's tax exempt status for him even appearing at a political rally - much less a rally where McCain speaks.

As far as Farrakhan - does anyone not think he is a nut? If you think Keith should make him one of the worst people in the world - I doubt if there would be any objection - and he would have high visibility for that if there was a reason for it - like speaking at an Obama rally. Obama has continually distanced himself from Farrakhan who DEFINITELY should not have tax exempt status - but how can Obama stop him any more than a homeless guy on the street shouting something out. But, what Obama rally has Farrakhan been invited on stage for?

And BTW - isn't Farrakhan Muslim? Is their Messiah considered God? I thought that was just the Christian religion. I don't know and it's just an aside...Farrakhan could tell people Obama was Satan just as easily and there would be no stopping it.

But - the question is, what does Obama believe? Let's see - has he ever told people to pray for a natural gas pipeline? How much do you want to bet that Sarah Palin thinks she has been chosen by God for HER role (You know - the one heartbeat away from an extremely powerful position). And, why shouldn't she think that? How else to explain such an unqualified person at such a high level...

You don't think this will be a problem for Obama?

Only for Obama supporters that are easily swayed by trolls in internet forums.

Oh, and far righties whose only attack on obama is that he's the messiah or something.

This will be a problem with Arab-hating Americans.. that is those who insist on pointing out that Barack Obama's middle name is "Hussein" as though being an Arab is in and of itself a sin.
