This Week w/George Stephanopoulos

Daily Show, of course.

The first SNL clip was weird: white is the opposite of muslim?

The Late Late Show one was OK.

The second SNL clip confirms that the only thing funny about SNL is Tina Fey.

Come on, bugjah, Will's Bush impression is the best that show has ever had. And while Fey's Palin is funny, it's not exactly a stroke of genius when the work is so, so cut out already. I agree the show has gotten pretty damn bad, but they still have talent like Hammond. And Armisen can be a force.

I agree with Jorg - Will Farrell's Dubya is always good – and I generally don't like Will Farrell all that much. Hey, but let's not forget: both Palin and Bush are complete idiots - neither of these parodies needs to be juiced up much from what they are working with with.

"I agree the show has gotten pretty damn bad, but they still have talent like Hammond."

Actually I think that none of the three people in that skit are SNL regulars anymore. I can't remember a time when they relied more on their former stars coming back for cameos. And yet their ratings have been through the roof with this Palin stuff.

Let's face it. Whatever comic gold comedians had with Bush is nothing compared to what they would have with Palin. If anyone made Bush up in a book, it would be a standard priviledged idiot who's in over his head. Palin would almost be too ridiculous for comedy.

The only reason Bush appears to have any more on the ball than Palin is because he had a few more years to learn the ropes than Palin (Bush became president at 54, she's only 44) and because he's been hanging around the politicos in his father's circle for most of his life. Give Palin ten more years in politics, and she'll be to pull off the same routine. In fact, Bush's total ignorance of foreign policy and lack of a clue as to how people in other countries and cultures think is all the more remarkable given the vastly greater opportunity he had for acquiring some knowledge. Bush is ignorant in spite of himself.

Bush and Palin are equally incurious, equally crippled by dogmatic denial of reality, equally committed to an inflexible good-vs-evil world view.

"Bush is ignorant in spite of himself."

This is an excellent point, and one I hadn't really thought about before. But you are absolutely correct: considering the education and connections that were W's birthright, it is absolutely astounding he became such an ignorant man.

As Moore said in the other video: this is election really is about ignorance v. Obama

I'm sick to my stomach. I can't eat. I'm having nightmares, and unable to focus on work- which is moot because my clients are all fearing for their own wallets right now anyway. And what makes me so damn angry about this is that I know too much about Obama to delude myself into expecting that much from him, so even after "we win", none of this is going to change. The GOP attacks will keep going. Our incompetent Congress will just keep going. Our deficit spending, and dual wars in the mideast will just keep going.

We still have years to go before any of this is behind us. I think I'm having another nervous breakdown. Here's hoping Obama legalizes pot, because I'll tell you this: it's a helluva lot cheaper than Xanax for those of us without insurance.

The Marty Eisenstadt videos have gotten even wilder and more outrageous. Why did you stop showing them? This episode he tries to sell McCain and conservative ideals to an African-American community organizer. Here's the link. Please check it out. http://www.youtube.com/user/youkaysam

My posting of links is rather haphazard. You could register an account and post them on the Forum if you like.

He really is unbelievable! I think you should take Norm's advice and post it on the forum - nice and skin crawling...

"Bush and Palin are equally incurious, equally crippled by dogmatic denial of reality, equally committed to an inflexible good-vs-evil world view."

Sure, sure. But the point is about how funny Palin is. She's not just worthy of scorn; she's uniquely weird. Her kids' names; her husband's adventures, bizarre stories about her pregnancy; her moose hunting; the mere fact that she's from the North American version of Siberia. I mean you look at one single corner of her life and it's overflowing with laughs. Like her ex-brother in law, whose crimes include tasing his own nephew. It's like a gold mine of comedy that will never run out. If she remains in politics, Wonkette and Jon Swift will be replaced by a regular Palin news feed.

And the Palin as Pres click around gets to change/add things daily as she provides more material!
