I hate to defend the president, but during an economic downturn, it's part of the job description to "be an optimist." For Bush to get up and give a speech like Bernanke would cause consumer confidence to drop (more than it already has).

How Bush is not being tarred and feathered from right and left is just beyond me...

Norman, what happened? In the old days, the video clips were QuickTime and everything would run smoothly, click, bling, play. Now i'm not sure what the codec is, but—at least to me on Tiger 10.4.11— most of the time, it is fucked (now that Uncle Norman has told us we can swear, i will!); sometimes nothing starts, sometimes sound only, often stuttering, and the picture quality when it works is crap compared to before. i hope i'm the only one with this problem!

I think there is a difference in being an optimist and delusional. Kind of the difference between saying the glass is half full and saying there is no glass....
