I'm not a big fan of J.G. Ballard. I started watching this just out of curiosity, the fact that I watched to the end is a recommendation I suppose.

Re: Sales Guy vs. Web dude
Hilarious - absolutely hilarious. I had to wipe the tears away.
re: sales guy etc.
i hardly know anything about computers, and only slightly more about the relationship between people who use them and people who service them. but i do know quite a bit about the personality types that are attracted to/wind up in the service industry, and that clip had me rollin'. thanks for the laugh.
RE: AT&T billing
You gotta love the cliche argument in favor of illegal wiretapping which goes something like: if you're doing nothing wrong then you've got nothing to hide or fear.
Keith Olbermann! Wow. This is the danger of not being able to take constructive criticism - you end up trying to defend your moves which often makes you into a real git. I remember when Christopher Hitchens went through this. He couldn't admit there were all these problems with going to war in Iraq. He ended up defending his position so disingenuously - ignoring the bigger picture people were questioning and only arguing the points he could win.
The Sales Guy v. Web Dude --- VERY funny.
Hitchens is still going through this, but is getting close to rock bottom now, he's praising a book by the one of Bush's ministers of propaganda, Douglas Feith – aka "the stupidest fucking guy on the planet..." I expect that Hitchens will never recant now - when you can overlook the absolute idiocy of Feith, you've lost your ability to reason at all.

I didn't know that about Hitchens. I thought he was working to distance himself from the right with his atheism.
I do know Feith. Yuck! Do you think Hitchen's doing it for money or vanity or both?
I have to say it's too bad because before Iraq, I used to really enjoy his writing in Vanity Fair and lectures, plus - he has a really nice speaking voice. (Okay - I admit it - did you ever see Arrested Development where no one noticed an English girl played by Charlize Theron was retarded because she spoke with an English accent so she sounded smart? I would probably be one of those people..)
from David Sirota:
"I want to point out that Barack Obama told me that progressive activists should judge him explicitly by what he does - and not come up with wild theories that absolve him. Here's the money quote from my article on him in The Nation two years ago:
'You should always assume that when I cast a vote or make a statement it is because it is what I believe in,' Obama said.
So by Obama's own admission, when he casts, say, an anti-progressive vote on civil liberties, we shouldn't whip up wild fantasies about him supposedly doing it because he actually is progressive on civil liberties. We should believe that he is, in fact, anti-progressive on civil liberties. That is, we should judge him on his actions."
