Jake On The Box
This is from a BBC Documentary on his life (he died in 2003 at the much too early age of 63) and it is a classic, written before The Falklands War, Desert Storm or what came after, reflecting on the attitudes of WW1 and WW2. He wrote much that was hilariously funny, sad, whimsical and bawdy, but this one feels apposite when we have just heard of more casualties in Afghanistan - where. incidentally, my Great Grandfather served on the border in the 1890s.
It is introduced by the Yorkshire Playwright, Alan Plater.

Does anyone know if this ever appeared on an album? Googling has not proven fruitful. I'd love an MP3 of this.
