Daily Show - Scott McClellan

What Happened, Jon got to the heart of the matter.

Part 1

Part 2

In the last few months Jon has given alot of conservatives a cake walk on his show, not that as an entertainer he needs to do more, but this interview really was him back in full form.

All the interviews on MSNBC with Kieth and others and this was the first time I saw McClellan look uncomfortable.

He cornered him on the lies and He basically said he doesn't want to say that they lied us into war.

Amazing that with the deluge of McClellan interviews, only Stewart can cut through the crap and get to the point, i.e. Bush lied. Maybe the difference is that unlike most of the MSM, Stewart wasn't one of the administration's partners in crime.

Poor idealistic Scottie. How could he have known that the Execution Governor would turn into the Torture President? How could he possibly have known?

I would like to associate myself with the prior comments. Stewart was the only interviewer I have seen who tried to make McClellan face up to his premeditated and willful deceit and not allow him to continue to hide behind the meaningless, blanket excuse of "the culture of the permanent campaign."

Oh, Scott. Still lying. Still minimizing. Still passing the buck. It's better than nothing, but how about a little self criticism?

"I, Scott McClellan, lied and distorted and should be answering questions at the Hague."

I agree that Stewart, alone among McClellan interviewers, had the balls to get him to face up to the unvarnished, obvious truth: Bush and his cronies lied, often and maliciously.

The number one thing that I noticed was just how strikingly less uncomfortable he looked compared to his last appearance.

Am I alone in thinking that Scott can go fuck himnself and take his book with him? I don't need him to tell me Bush was lying all this time; I knew it from the start. McClellan acts like he is revealing some huge secret by saying Bush is a dessembler. Maybe if he had written this five years ago it would have been worth reading; now it's old news.

"Am I alone in thinking that Scott can go fuck himself and take his book with him?"

Nope. I don't need Simple Scottie to tell me about Bush any more than I need Chrissie Snitchens to tell me about atheism.

Excellent job, Jon: he nailed the bastard, then later on helped Scott get to his "central point": that the constant campaign and the partisanship are destructive and lead toward authoritarian secrecy. If you think the Dems are immune from this, btw, you need to read your Max Weber.

BTW, Norm: no Obama hand-wringing or Clinton grieving this morning? What gives? ;)

I wonder how Letterman would have done with McClellan. He was scheduled for Wednesday night, but his flight was late. I guess he had something to do on Tuesday so he couldn't stay in NY. Probably because of their different audiences and networks he would have not grilled him as much, but you never know. Also Stewart is probably more politically savvy.
