That's some good news. As long as McCain is beat by a Democrat. Heck, I'd even prefer Mike Gravel. Sure he's old like McCain, he's crazy like McCain, but at Gravel isn't still trying to fight the Vietcong.
Bob Barr is planning on running on the Libertarian ticket. That'll serve to take some more votes away from McCain.
And with 81% of Americans believing that this country is headed in the wrong direction, it is simply amazing that McCain is even that close.
I can't wait till this damn Dem primary is over with so they can point their lasers on McCain and paint him as John McBush.
I much prefer the O-man, but if Hillary wins it's all good, as long as we don't get Bush, Jr. Lite for four years. Any Democratic option is another world from continuance of the brain-dead Republican regime.
I think those poll numbers are misleading (and they're too close to really say anything anyway). Methinks that once the primary is over, no matter when that might be, most of those who say they won't vote for the other candidate will realize they like the nominee better than McCain.
As soon as the primary is over, those numbers will change.
polls yank our chains. what's in it for CBS / New York Times? advertising revenue, nothing more. do polls predict the outcome of elections? weather forecasts have been more consistently accurate of late.
that said, it is nice to see this rosy picture. we can chose to believe it, and get a warm fuzzy feeling, or we can work, to get a democrat elected.
as for the notion that clinton is a democrat, she is, in the same way that lieberman and feinstein are democrats.
but i digress. polls are mere fluff. entertainment product. of greater concern is that repiglicans are busy bodies, right now working to remove blacks from voter rolls, to redistrict areas in their favor, perfecting their next round of cheating. it's the only way the can win, and they work hard at it.
i strongly support the one liberal intellectual in the race. evidence that he can win: he's winning.
What exactly is crazy about Gravel??? Other than the fact that the corporate media has told you his he is crazy. I'd much rather have Gravel than Hillary.
Come now, have you watched his videos?

Singing along to the Beatles set to a background of the Kennedy assassination is Craaaaazy.
Corporate media did not need to say anything.
This one makes him look even crazier. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_OBslG2Arc
Oh, National sales tax, and national initiatives. You sure got me.
Nothing less crazy then recessive taxes and knee jerk initiatives.
regressive
It's Saturday... I understand.. I've been typing out all kinds of crazy shit...
And my father died today.. and yet here I am still arguing about Obama vs Hillary when clearly my Dad is more important than the two of them all rolled up in one..
Still, my Dad would have no doubt vote for John McCain... i still love him and always will..
Sorry to hear about your Dad, JoAnn.
hanging out here and being yourself sounds like a good way of celebrating all that he was to you.
Our parents raise us to be exactly who we are, even if they have no intention of doing so.
lol RedSeven. Thanks.
I'd still rather prefer a "crazy" peace loving hippie, and American hero in my opinion for what he did regarding the Vietnam War, the draft, and the pentagon papers, to a sell out and a liar like Hillary.

I'd prefer a sane peace loving hippie.
JoAnn - - I'm so sorry to hear about your dad.
RedSeven's sentiment reminds me of one of my favourite poems (begging, of course, JoAnn's indulgence and apologizing if this comes across as disrespectful and/or ill-timed):
This Be The Verse - Philip Larkin:
And, the first word of Larkin's poem should, of course, be "They"
...sigh....
Thank you Little Mickey. Not at all disrespectufl or ill timed. It brought a smile to my face.
Thanks again.
