Excellent links today Norm! Thanks *8)

It never ceases to amaze me that every few years or so I still run-into someone that despite being in a profession where they use mathematics and statistics in everyday, still don't get the "Monty Hall" problem. I introduce the problem to them, and they confidently tell me I'm wrong.

I love it!

What a great problem!

This is an article on Slate describing in far too many words why I don't like SNLs sketches and why I do like The Daily Show. It takes humor-type-folks to task tos ave our democracy.

No such thing as alternative medicine my butt! I've cured more illnesses, mental conditions and physical pains with a few shots of tequila than anything prescribed by a doctor!

Norm, I don't know why you continue to post things from those idiots over at the denialism blog. They are so near-sighted and narrow-minded. I have yet to read an intellegent, well written post on that site.

Bill Maher is the worst kind of pseudo-intellectual -- he is self-righteous, and he has a television show. And he's a liberal, so he makes the rest of us look bad.

His show is only worth watching for the guests.

Re: People Furious that Clinton sacked Penn... ha ha ha!

I wonder if she'll also sack her husband as he also supported the trade agreement.

Is this why Chris Dodd supports Barack Obama? maybe..

Top Democratic lawmakers, including presidential hopefuls Barack Obama and Chris Dodd, have urged Colombia to reverse the "infiltration" of murderous paramilitary groups at high government levels or risk losing $700 million a year in aid.

A copy of the letter was released by Sen. Dodd's office on Friday, just before President Alvaro Uribe is to appear in New York for a dinner honoring former President Clinton, part of a lobbying campaign by Colombia to counter Democrats' intense scrutiny of its human rights record.

Why does Colombia's president criticize Barack Obama on his trade stance, and yet not criticize Hillary Clinton for the same stance?

And then there's this

Barack Obama and Christopher Dodd and six other senators recently sent a strongly worded letter to Secretary of State, Condoleeza Rice, asking for strong economic sanctions against Colombia should it continue to allow drug traffickers and potential death squad associates to gain a foothold in its government. The senators expressed grave concerns about Alvaro Uribe, the Colombian President, who was recently shown to have ties to drug traffickers. The Colombian government is also being associated with the murders of union members in the country.

Human rights groups continue to step up pressure on Uribe and the Colombian government. Al Gore also recently backed out of an environmental conference so that he would not appear there with Uribe due to charges that Uribe has facilitated the use of death squads in Colombia.

On the other side, Bill Clinton appeared recently at a dinner with Uribe, where Uribe presented Clinton with a “Colombia is Passion” award. Hillary Clinton’s name is notably absent from the letter sent to Rice. Also, Uribe recently gave $300,000 in lobbyist funding to Senator Hillary Clinton’s senior advisor’s public relations firm. What’s up with all that Hillary?

Although this is an article supporting Hillary Clinton, I find some telling words:

The following invitation just appeared in our in box: "TODAY: EDWARDS CAMPAIGN TO HOST CONFERENCE CALL TO DISCUSS SENATOR CLINTON DISMISSIVELY 'LAUGHING OFF' QUESTIONS ON NAFTA IN LAST NIGHT'S CNN DEBATE."

"Look," she said, "NAFTA did not do what many had hoped"

I read that comment by her to mean that she had hoped what "many" had hoped.

And as far as NAFTA is concerned, some people in some states (such as Texas) did benefit.

I don't think that neither Hillary nor Barack are as much against the free-trade agreements as they'd like some voters to think. I also don't think that either one of them will pull troops out of Iraq as soon as they'd like some voters to think.
