People keep confusing the Democratic National Convention with our government.
It's not our government! This is not a government election. We don't own it!
The DNC is a private political party. Political parties are not democracies: we do not elect the party chairmen, we do not have any right as citizens within a political party; Political Parties are not "ours".
If indeed the DNC decides to select it's candidate before the DNC convention and this bothers you so much, take a moment to think: Did you have the opportunity to select which candidate would represent the Green Party? Or was Ralph Nader selected for you by the Green Party leadership?
Did you complain about this lack of democracy in the Green Party? Why not?
It's too bad that two political parties have become so dominant in our government that too many can no longer distinguish between our government and a political party. Clearly, we need to right the distorted role of political parties. Among other things the two parties have undermined the role of checks and balances across the three branches of government.
It's a serious problem.
To do democracy right we should get rid of the plural voting system and enact publicly financed elections.

Apropos of nothing, except it relates to Real Time, the crawl for 'next week's guests' showed 'Atheist Richard Dawkins', what an unfair and retarded label. He's so much more than an atheist; Scientist, lecturer, professor, author.
