A Book For You
How do I choose a book to give away next week. I know, I'll ask the readers to choose. Here are three possible choices:
Monkeyluv
The Metaphysical Club
The Yiddish Policeman's Union
Now you decide which of the three would you like to be next week's offering.

The Yiddish Policeman's Union looks very interesting. Would this still be limited to US & Canada only?

I am amused that you did not set this up as a poll.

I can highly recommend Menand's "The Metaphysical Club" -- a fascinating look at political and social philosophy amongst 19th century liberal thinkers and how their interactions changed how we think today.
It also produced one of my favorite sayings when it comes to almost any political discussion: "First we decide. Then we deduce."

Put me in for Yiddish Policeman's Union.
Interestingly enough, Norm has already sent me a copy of the Menand book. I hope he didn't have to go re-buy the thing after he sent the one off to me!

I think what happened is I bought a copy for Chris and he never got around to it so I'm going to give it to someone who has time to read it. Either that or when I bought it I got it in a six pack.
It looks like The Yiddish Policeman's Union is the favorite. It is an excellent read, one of the two or three best I've read this year, but the year is young yet and I just ordered the last four Ian McEwan novels I haven't read yet.
