Music In The Morning
Almost every morning during my shower I listen to this music. I've listened to it hundreds of times and never seem to tire of it. It is Bach's Partita No. 1 performed by Glenn Gould. The sixth partita is more popular and I adore it as well, but it is the first that continues to provide me with what I need most each morning, joy and inspiration.

The last part of that first section just kills me every time I listen to it. If anyone cares to learn about counter point, I would direct them to this absolutely perfect example. This is one of the things that I lost in the fire (hard drive crash) so thanks for posting it. I have recently been obsessing over Gould's Beethoven sonatas and would highly recommend them to you. However,I'm not a big fan of his Mozart stuff.

It's been a while since of listened to his Beethoven and I agree with your take on his Mozart. I'm also fond of the French Suites, one bit in particular. The exact reference escapes me. :)

After all these years, Gould still owns Bach. He went a little 'out there' with Mozart. I have to agree with that.
I know you're a fan of the Goldberg Variations, Norm. Here's a piece at NPR about twelve composers who were asked to write their own variations based on Bachs. I thought you might enjoy it.
