Re: Jon Swift: Hillary Clinton Supporters at Daily Kos Go On Strike!

I am a reasonable conservative who likes to write about politics and culture. Since the media is biased I get all my news from Fox News, Rush Limbaugh and Jay Leno monologues.

The above is from the banner on his site. I seriously can't tell if he's pulling a Steven Colbert or not...

The project was first signed off in 1999, but stopped two years later after Palestinian labourers refused to go on.

-the second paragraph of the linked article on israeli settlements. i won't comment on the wisdom or otherwise of going forward with this 10 year old project, but this really made me laugh. whoever wrote this ridiculous line knows nothing about economics, or palestinian construction workers, or the reasons why they might not have been able to make it to work in early 2001. he wants us to believe, perhaps, that, under the harsh whips of their israeli taskmasters, they threw down their tools and asked for 3 days to go to the desert to worship their god.

one thing is for sure- the project wasn't stopped because the workers "refused to go on". rofl, etc.

i stopped taking the bbc seriously on the israeli/palestinian issue years ago, but i still check them out for a laugh sometimes.

or, even more improbably, he wants us to believe that for political reasons, as some sort of act of civil disobedience unconnected to threats on their lives and families' lives by their local ganglords, they quit en masse. this author sounds like he has never met a palestinian constuction worker, and i truly doubt he has.

Cool, the ants have computers and they fight just like us! On the latter, you have to open a book that Americans don't like to read, but is still enormously popular in Europe: Thoreau's Walden. His amazing account of the ant-battle is here.

Kos says something that I strongly agree with that deals with the ridiculous "strike" and a lot of the infighting going on here at OGM:

It is Clinton, with no reasonable chance of victory, who is fomenting civil war in order to overturn the will of the Democratic electorate. As such, as far as I'm concerned, she doesn't deserve "fairness" on this site. All sexist attacks will be dealt with -- those will never be acceptable. But otherwise, Clinton has set an inevitably divisive course and must be dealt with appropriately. To reiterate, she cannot win without overturning the will of the national Democratic electorate and fomenting civil war, and she doesn't care. That's why she has earned my enmity and that of so many others. That's why she is bleeding super delegates. That's why she's even bleeding her own caucus delegates (remember, she lost a delegate in Iowa on Saturday). That's why Keith Olbermann finally broke his neutrality. That's why Nancy Pelosi essentially cast her lot with Obama. That's why Democrats outside of the Beltway are hoping for the unifying Obama at the top of the ticket, and not a Clinton so divisive, she is actually working to split her own party. Meanwhile, Clinton and her shrinking band of paranoid holdouts wail and scream about all those evil people who have "turned" on Clinton and are no longer "honest power brokers" or "respectable voices" or whatnot, wearing blinders to reality, talking about silly little "strikes" when in reality, Clinton is planning a far more drastic, destructive and dehabilitating civil war. People like me have two choices -- look the other way while Clinton attempts to ignite her civil war, or fight back now, before we cross that dangerous line. Honestly, it wasn't a difficult choice. And it's clear, looking at where the super delegates, most bloggers, and people like Olbermann are lining up, that the mainstream of the progressive movement is making the same choice. And the more super delegates see what is happening, and what Clinton has in store, the more imperative it is that they line up behind Obama and put an end to it before it's too late.

Also, on the Obama pastor thing... why aren't we bringing up McCain's ties to the Hagee fellow instead? The "Catholic church is the anti-christ" guy campaigns with McCain and Democrats don't seem to give a damn anymore. This is dangerous; to poorly quote douglas adams

It wasn't gun or knife dangerous, it was more brick wall in the middle of the freeway dangerous

Oh, and Charles and anyone else like me who is a bread connoisseur, this is scary
