The skit is ruined because they focus so much on satire of the moderators. No one cares, it's not funny and it's not relevant. SNL is trash now, not witty nor funny.

What's the difference between a comedy sketch and propaganda?

Comedy sketches are actually funny.

A skit and an appearance by the candidate.

spoiler alert

That was fucking brilliant. I do not expect Obama supporters to pick up on it but yes this is how Clinton supporters feel. Bill Maher's comments last night were wholly inappropriate. Frankly sexist.

I thought Hillary did well. Good Stuff.

Apologies for my ignorance (I only see debate footage here), but wasn't one of Clinton's comments that she had been given the first question in 6 of the last 10 debates? This seemed to be her main evidence of favoritism. So, if a single debate had given the question to Obama instead of Clinton, they would be 50/50, right? That seems a bit, well, trivial to me.

She also seemed to be tapped about a year or two ago as The Man To Beat by... well... the media. We all saw the amount of coverage Guinani got for being the same for the GOP.

Also, although I LOVED the skit. the appearance by Clinton afterward was hardly refuting that SNL was offically endorsing her. Sure they have many candidates on to spoof themselves, but with Tina's bit, the skit last week, Lorne asking the same writer for another debate skit this week, Clinton quoting the former skit in a speech, and appearing after the new skit this week. I mean. yeahhhhhh... And Rove didn't out Plame.

Hope y'all are having a good weekend.

Maybe I'm just in a good mood this morning, but I liked the skit much better than I thought I would. It didn't drag nearly as much as the last debate spoof did, and I laughed out loud a couple of times. I even liked the surreal cameo by Vincent D'Onofrio, though I thought it came off slightly awkward.

Hillary is not my preferred candidate, but I especially liked her appearance.

Is it just me or, based on the last two SNL episodes, are we now looking at a TV show endorsing a political candidate? An old-guard TV show, which has lost much much of its creative vigor, of course, so I suppose that's appropriate.

Very good sketch! I adore Amy Poehler (and wish Tina Fey were still writing for the show).

And if that poor, poor, little victim Hillary Clinton does somehow manage to ride her broom all the way to the White House, extra Amy Poehler on SNL would be one of the few bright spots to get us through the long national nightmare.

If Hillary supporters really think this is how Obama and Hillary are treated relative to each other (even granted the hyperbole), then I think its about time the Obama supporters stopped being called the delusional ones.

The only part of that sketch that I liked was the appearance of "Vince", the rest of it fell flat. Neither impersonation of the candidate was quite "on" and Tim Russert is not Darrell Hammond's best work either.

This was not just this sketch, btw. After trying to watch a few other sketches on SNL, I ended up flipping to Mad TV and was quite happy with the decision.

The Daily Show (still!) is doing a better job of the political commentary. Maybe the only reason SNL is grabbing headlines is that the parody is blurring lines between simple satire and endorsement (albeit a less common endorsement amongst TV hosts). And what about the most surreal moments of the debate? Hillary citing SNL and her curiousness, yet appreciativeness, on getting the first questions, and Hillary's effort to educate us on denouncement versus rejection? Nowhere to be found in this ten minute long so-called political commentary.

The BriWi/Timmeh/BarryJr was dead on...the real Hillary is considerably more grating in than Amy playing her (particularly in Hill's presence I suppose)...this was a good moment for the Senator though... she must be hopping it will deflect peoples attention away from this http://deepbackground.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/02/29/718285.aspx

Don't worry about Bill Mahr, it's quite evident his talent comes from his writers.

Lame. Dorky. Rally not funny. Maher is ten times more witty, real, and on-target.

Hilary was pretty good, though, given that she's kinda stiff. Just my opinion.

*Really, not "rally"

*Hillary, not "Hilary", dangit.

The skit is ruined because they focus so much on satire of the moderators.

Nailed it. And the writing isn't funny.

FEw goos laughs at the beginning and then it ended up like a Huckabee candidacy.

the Skit pointed out something I saw in the debate, that both the questions and the timing of the questions did not seem fair to Clinton. I support Obama, but I really did feel sorry for her, she did not deserve such a one sided moderation of the debate by msnbc.

she insulted their journalistic integrity on the first question! She was baiting them into open warfare. Instead of an all out attack she got their clear distaste for her. I am sure her base feels vindicated, and when she drops out they can all feel indignant, but it was a poor move on her part.

RedSeven: it was a poor move on her part.

But Red...she's a giiiirl. It doesn't matter how much she sucks. She's a woman - a mother. She can't be expected to sit in a debate with a group of big, strong, tough men without some exceptions made for little old her.

...Sigh....

I know I'm beating the dead horse of Hillary Hate here, however, she just makes me bananas with her ploys. The first woman with some potential to be a president and she's a fucking whiner! God that pisses me off.

I actually liked Hillary's spot more than the skit. I don't know what to say about her "curious" comment from the real debate. Whiner? More - desperate - especially not "winner." It's hard not to let 11 straight losses get to you. She probably thought of something more witty in the elevator on the way to the debate, then let that dumb-ass comment come out on air.

The pre-primary SNL had some meaner skits toward HRC. Remember the big costume party with Hillary as the bride, Richardson sucking up, Bill saying how folks liked him and so on? Then Barack came on as just himself (complete with his own mask). So, whatever they think is funny. Bitch is the new black - check plus! The debate skits - ugh - how ARE the ratings for SNL?

Bill Clinton had Arsenio Hall, Hillary Clinton had SNL.

I liked it, I thought it was really good.

Re: Charles Lemos, about Bill Maher: The reason as to why Bill Maher's seem sexist is that they probably are sexist. I like Bill Maher, but he is one sexist dude.

Furry cows moo and decompress.

Politics aside, I thought the skit was funny and relative to most politicians Hillary didn't do a bad job "performing" at the end.

Yup, that one was indeed funnier than the last one. Especially the "Law&Order" part. But I wish Hillary would cling as much to SNL's support as she's doing. They seem to think some funny skits actually support their position. Which is somewhat ridiculous.

Oh well, silly season.
