This is so annoying that TV networks decide who the winners are! In Texas, it is not yet possible to say who the winner is, because only 65% of the delegates are allocated from the primary (where Hillary leads with barely over half (51%) of the vote), while 35% of the delegates are awarded from the caucus, where only 13% of results are in, and Obama is leading by a large margin. So hold your pants ABC, NBC, and CNN! Let's just pretend this is a democracy and wait for the votes to be counted.
For those like me that want to see Obama win the Democratic Primary, this clip that the Obama camp should be watching right now...

...I don't know what movie this is from, but I feel out of my chair laughing when a friend sent me this vid link titled, "OBAMA, CLOSE THE DEAL!" :P
sorry bout typos. :P
Please help me, I live in Europe so I am not an expert. Can someone tell me what Clinton has acheived in her years in the Senate (is it six years?). She says she has more experience... I don't know if I buy it. You have to understand that over here you just here about the big events, so I know she voted for authority to attack iraq. I know that she is on some kind of army commitee do da (that could be tactics for presidency not unlike Bush buying a ranch in 97'). But what has she done? Cheers in advance
Looks to me like Rush Limbaugh's campaign got some traction.
Now if Nader's campaign gets similar traction, I can safely bet who our next Potus will be.
Learn to say it... President McCain. I knew you could.
I dont understand why peoples are voting for Obama? Yes he is a rockstar, deliver change, and he is black. Well, atleast half...
I think americans has to "think" a littlebit more, and dont just "follow" their hearts. Especially the "young voters" Compared to Hillary, Obama is just a sandcorn in the dust.
She is a hardcore politician. She "done things", Like helping the poor/sick/soldiers (PHYSICALLY). Obama;NON! More political experience, more international experience. Oh yes! Clinyon is a bitch, a pussy, and she voted for the war. (ironically)
But,seriuosly; anyone that have been in politic(s) long enough, will "do mistakes." Or as Jon Stuart said: "you cant nip and pick for a long political career, Thats why i have non!" (Directed to Obamas attacks on Clinton)
Every country who had or has women as leader, is much stronger and peaceful than any with "male" leaders.
All obama has, is his retoric speeches and rockstar apperance. If that what it takes to convince america?!?! well B.Spears can run in another 4 years. Oh... Here is a good way to put it: Who would you lead a war? Elvis or RAMBO?
Elvis is good looking, very nice voice, and very popular.
Rambo is bad ass, skanky and stinky.
I think american will choose Elvis. but america will also lose the war. (Got the clue???? "following your heart")
And the last: Politic(s) is/are the same shit. Dont say Obama is different. He will act just the same old fashion, when he gets the election or being elected. I am 10000000% sure. Just read some history. Thats why, Clinton is a better choice; AT LEAST WE KNOW HER WELL.
So here is my advice: If Obama was clinton, i will vote for him. If clinton was Obama, i would not.
I am a Norwegian, not an American. And i approve this message. XD
According to most math out there (texas caucuses are still being tallied), All of those wins brings Clinton....
Wait for it....
~1-2 delegates closer to obama. The gap is still almost 100 delegates.
However, I think this is something that nobody here would mind seeing, as much as the pundits don't think it would happen
Norm how many pairs of underwear did you go through last night.
I'm really not invested in Hillary in that way. I did notice something interesting last night. One of my sons who is an Obama supporter was truly moved by the excitement at the Hillary victory speech in Ohio last night. It was a, you know she's really not that bad, moment. I think it was empathy he felt for her and her supporters. For him it was a we'll be okay with whomever the nominee is.
There are several reasons why people choose to vote for Obama besides his "rockstar appearance" and "rhetoric speeches". These have been outlined partially on this site over the last few weeks.
For me the choice came when I saw his stance on religion in politics that was posted here a while back. However, this is not the discussion in this thread.
I am a Texas voter voting for the first time in a Primary. Last night I spent 2 hours in line waiting to vote and there was a good hour-two hour line behind me. After voting I went to the caucus. When I looked down at the long list of names, there was a lot of Obama and a sprinkling of Hillary. I don't think Texas can be called until the 35% from the caucus comes in. It might have just been my precinct, but I think Obama did a better job sending out the message that a person can caucus after voting. Though I have not followed the Clinton campaign in a while.
Furthermore as other have stated, last night and today does nearly nothing for the delegate count. We are in the same position as we were before these events happened. Democrats will continue to argue amongst themselves and the Republicans can now begin to mobilize and get a national message out for McCain.
"...we'll be okay with whomever the nominee is."
I wonder if Charles will be ok
No need to wonder about Charles, he said he won't be, but I don't think Norm was including him in that "we".
I do have to say, since the explosion on OGM a few days ago, the tone has changed back to good. Charles' new post (although still he has no real source information behind his posts), is a PRO-Clinton rather than an ANTI-something article.
Keep this up. All the anti-obama crap was making me mad at Hillary, rather than pro-obama. With hillary's wins and the impending shadow of a McCain presidency, we need to start focusing negativity on the OTHER side. Both candidates are acceptable, for different reasons.
Now if I can just get Lemos to agree.....
Magnolia: Yup.
I've been close to unsubscribing a few times, but just when I'm about to, I see something (almost always in comments) that keeps me here. So for now at least, here I am. I may not feel as warm and fuzzy about this site as I did a month ago, but I haven't left yet.
I have to agree, and although I am amongst those creating Norm the most angst as I continue to argue as other folks are just leaving the site, I can deal with reasoned arguments against Obama, or pro Clinton as long as they are not insulting and as long as we are free to respond in the same tone that posts are written.
