Hardball w/Chris Matthews

Comments
Everytime the firing squad in my mind mows them down, they always reanimate. What gives?
When 70% of Afghanistan is controlled by the Taliban or other insurgents, then you are not exactly the "conqueror of Afghanistan."
And he can't even carry a tune. What would Simon Cowell rate that performance.
Norm always cuts to the chase. He is still an asshole.
My, my! Did I just viddy a bezoomny bratchny amongst his droogs warble out a tune reminicent of the bolshy "Singin' in the Rain" from my favorite ultraviolent vid? I did! And did you viddy his droogs rise to applaud and crark at his villainy? Full horrorshow!
I beg to differ, Chas. Norm's not quite an asshole.
;-)
Thank you, Millie - you beat me to it. My fault because I was away from my iMac, having lunch.
well well. Chris Matthews making sense there at the end.
It might be funny if the Capital Steps can pick up on this moment turn the mirror back on W. (hey W looks the same in mirror image...is that significant?)
Bush is not really an asshole, but with some long hours of coaching and a lot of practice, he could work himself up to that level.
Now as for him being a moron.....

Well listen to our little Chris, getting all Keith Olbermann on us. It's almost cute.
Jerry W. -- No, no, he really is an asshole. Matthews pegged this one 100% at the end, and Norm titled it appropriately.
Bush is an asshole (among other things) for singing the song AND the reporters are assholes for laughing and applauding at such a distasteful act.
Next thing you know he'll be looking for WMD behind his couch or something stupid like...oh wait, never mind.
Surely his mom will scold him for downplaying tragedy. She wouldn't be caught dead saying how great it is for people whose lives were destroyed in a flood are having fun camping out in a refugee camp. Umm, never mind again.
A list of the assholes in the audience would be quite handy.
Not everyone in the audience is an asshole (I'm not an asshole).
I think Matthews is right about the strange closeness between the media and the politicians during the Gridiron dinner, the white house correspondents dinner, etc. In fact, the NYT doesn't attend the Gridiron because of this issue.
But overall the dinner was much fun, good food and great people watching.
BTW, it wasn't a cell phone video- I used a canon elf camera.
Ah. Bring one of these to the next press dinner. And try to get a seat in the front.
(thanks very much for taking that video :)
Poolaka,
O.K., I'll type slower. Please read all the words this time, and keep the idea of "humor" and "irony" in mind.
"Bush is not really an asshole, but with some long hours of coaching and a lot of practice, he could work himself up to that level.

Please save your energy for bashing Bush when it counts. Yes, Katrina and Libby are sensitive issues but Bush is making fun of himself. His spoof song highlights his failures, so it is good that Bush recognizes that he has made failures. We can all laugh at ourselves and Bush needs to too. I wonder when the blog plagiarist can step down from his "I am better than everyone because I worship only myself" pedestal and make fun of himself.
I couldn't disagree more.
Spoof songs are a luxury afforded to presidents who's administrations are beset by mere buffoonery.
George W. Bush has been dangerously incompetent and has not once offered an apology for or acknowledgement of his fuck ups.
Until he does, any attempts to "make fun" of himself should be seen and judged for what they are: innappropriate.
