I'm a bit nervous that the likely democratic nominee was "inspired by the Super Bowl". It would be a sad day when the leader of the free world (so to speak) needs to be inspired by the Super Bowl, as she suggested she did. shudder
Was I the only one who thought the superbowl anecdote was incomplete. "So I was there, with my supporters trying to see the end... - cause this was the most exciting superbowl we've had in a long time - [change subject].
I hate the way she sounds blaze about "home foreclosures, job loss." I'm sorry if that sounds trivial.
Spare me, please, trivi. The only people not inspired by the Giants win were Patriots fans (or not fans of the game).
The only thing she said that bothered me was when she said something like "we all start at 'Ground Zero'" I think it was a Freudian slip though - I don't think she was purposely using that metaphor to remind people of 9-11.
I thought she was relatively likeable in the interview. When she said, "We already tried that" (meaning Bush) I thought she was talking about herself - "We tried making me into someone you'd want to have a beer with, but that didn't work, so now I just stick to the issues."
Particularly once she started talking about campaign finance reform, I found her quite pleasant. She also understands that poor people are obese not because they are lazy or stupid, but because all they can afford to eat is noxious high-calorie crap (for Upper Class White People, these sorts of concepts are like fucking rocket science).
All very encouraging, but the attitudes Hillary has presented in the past toward stuff like the Iraq war and "think of the children" media censorship still keeps me in Barack's corner of the yard.
I'm also worried what Hillary would do for the interests that gave her all those millions for her campaign, although the same issue applies to Obama as well.
Still, Hillary is far from my last choice as Leader Of The Free World.
Nice tactic, going on Letterman Super Tuesday Eve.
Frenetic,
last choice? You mean of the two democratic candidates, obviously ;-)
I hope :/
Or would you rather have the Mitt?
One thing i've noticed is the language difference between dems/repubs: for example, this is how I think the candidates would answer the running mate question:
Hillary: "no matter what happens, we'll be friends"
Obama: "At the end of the day, our policies are different, but we're both trying to improve the country"
Romney: "When I'm president, I'm sure we'll still be friends"
Huckabee: "Even with all the money Romney has spent slandering his running mates, I'm sure we can put that in the past"
McCain: "I'm a conservative, i swear!"
Paul: "They're all criminals. Constitution, free market, destroy the irs, The war sucks."
I said:
As in, she is not my last choice. As in, she is closer to my first choice than my last.
As in, she is way ahead of any of the Republican Warmongers and Theocrats!
I agree with him on two points. Guess which ones.
Something I'd like to point out is that, in my mind, Paul is a "destructive" or "Right" Libertarian, concerned far too much with tearing down social structures rather than improving them and/or transitioning them to be more independent of the federal beaurocracy.
Increasing freedom and prosperity is not as simple and easy as R. Paul is advertising. Destroying a broken machine and hoping someone else comes and replaces it isn't a solution.
There are some simple solutions, though, like quitting with the imperialistic military bullshit.
my bad, frenetic,
I don't know how I could've misread that....
I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by this. I haven't been a big fan but she seems to be talking about the right things.
