I live in Madrid and here too you can find many american mormons trying to convert convert us, poor indiginous people. Seeing these poor felows walking up and down repeating all that crap while everyone mooks them at their backs is sad, pathetic, obnoxious and hilarious. And now that we know that one of those poor kids has been a millionaire running for presiden of the united states makes the picture even more sad, pathetic, obnoxious and hilarious. Nobody gave a shit about his stupid message in France... and nobody gives a shit about his stupid message in America. Go back to mormon land.
What?! Who saw this coming? John McCain has selected Henry Kissinger to be his Secretary of State.
Maher is just overflowing with cynicism as usual, the thing is he is probably right to expect the status quo. My feeling is that an awful lot of people who expect actual change are going to be very disappointed after 4 years of Obama or Hillary. Neither one of them is an FDR. The best we can hope from either of them is to keep us afloat and maybe undo some of the damage that Bush has caused over the last 7 years, but real change? Within our existing political system? Not a chance.
You can say Im wrong, but that just because you actually have hope for change (as the slogan goes)
you're probably right with the assertion. unfortunately. although i find your opinion to coincide with that of gore vidal. cynical, but probably more realistic.
i do, however, feel that obama will be more likely to TRY to reverse the downward spiral... the feeling i get from hilary is mere ambition and desire to (just) win at whatever cost.
Romney's co-opting of the France epithet (from FOX of 2004) is just pathetic.
Funny about Obama's use of "hope" for the campaign. "Hope is on the way" was the Kerry/Edwards slogan.
I will say that Obama is getting the type of voters that Bill Clinton got back in 1992: young and cross-overs (independent and "Reagan Democrats"); Hillary is not. As policy makers, I see Hillary Clinton as a moderate Republican and Barack Obama as a moderate Democrat, so guess which one I support? moderate-Dem is closer to liberal Dem (Edwards; also Kucinich and Gravel), so I go with the big O.
I'm finding his cynicism rather unfunny. Maybe it's because he has no sense of timing or wit.
Furthermore, the definition of fascism is NOT "rule by corporation." Come on Bill, at least pick up a dictionary.
