Late Show w/David Letterman

Yawn.
That was petty and unfair to Edwards. We badly need an intellectual climate in this country.
Seconded Frenetic, Seconded.
However Vice President Oprah has a ring to it, even though I despise her and find her an intolerably cloying cult leader. (Truth is she does get Americans reading books without pictures).
Oh god... it is really embarrasing to play a 10min sketch comedy when you are a presidential candidate. One thing is to have certaing people appeal and other completly differente thing is to lose sight of what you are applaying for which is really serious. Most republican candidates are religious lunatics with simplistic ideals but you have to give them credit for looking focused and not acting like fools on national TV.
Lame promises, lamer delivery.
Who'da known that Obama could be so leaden?
The guy can only work with the material he's given. I thought Letterman's show is supposed to be funny BECAUSE he has WGA writers?

I quote James Love from HuffPo:
"The Democratic party rank-and-file, however, could do more to bring the rancor down a notch. People can start by not putting the candidates on pedestals. Neither Hillary nor Obama are perfect. Both are highly political and ambitious people (who else gets this far?), and both will make plenty of mistakes in the campaigns, or as president, if they get that far. They are human, like everyone else who runs for this job.
Find a way to recognize and respect some qualities in the candidate you don't support, and acknowledge some of the flaws in the one you do, and you will be better prepared to support the eventual nominee.
One should not assume the Republican party will simply hand the election to the nominee. Democrats will, in all likelihood, nominate a woman or a black man at the top of the ticket, and ask the country to end centuries of exclusion. This will be hard enough for a party that is united, but much harder if core constituencies feel both disappointed and disrespected."
Take a larger and longer view folks!
do you dare let this post past the lions at the gate?

Well, Mary Irene: looks like Norm dared.
Interesting perspective. I admire Feingold. As purely progressive as he is, I can see why he wouldn't endorse any one of the three candidates. I have a hard time with them myself. But I'm surprised that he reserved his ire for Edwards, even though JE is the only candidate with whom Feingold doesn't have to work when all this is over. I'd think he would see no difficulty throwing Clinton under the train, but I guess there is something else going on.
Overall, pretty lame. He should stay away from comedy except when it comes naturally. However...
"There he goes again praising the Republicans. Mitt part of an Obama Administration, oh my."
Really? "Secretary of Lookin' Good" is something that is taken seriously? I mean, granted, it's something worthy of an eye-roll, but it is clearly (1) an attempt at a joke (2) the "position" isn't one that would entail any power anyway.
Well, you may or may not like Obama, but that was at least as good as the average Top 10 list. IMHO, as they say. As for his delivery, I would have to assume from watching it(with no actual knowledge of the situation) that his part of that piece was taped, making it much harder for him to appear spontaneous and not allowing for him to benefit from the audience reaction.
Well, FINALLY we'll get some specifics from Obama...!
I don't know. I don't get the craze about him. To me he mostly seems leaden, boring and scripted. Even more so than Hillary.
Appearing on late-night talk shows is what presidential potentials do. How else would the electorate know there's even an election this year. Seriously? No one reads the paper anymore. Everyone's preoccupied with Fox's Moment of Truth. While it's the political equivalent of eating French fries for its nutritional value, appearing on late night talk shows is what a politician does to get elected.
Quit whinging about the effect and start complaining about the cause.
my, my.. what a bunch of malcontents. Are you telling me that none of you laughed at secretary of lookin' good? It's funny stuff, if taken for what it is: A joke. You don't think some of our best presidents had a sense of humor? It might not have had the best delivery, but I don't think that makes him unsuitable for being president. Go find something substantial to complain about. (PS- I know there's plenty out there about our candidates... I'm just saying, lets choose the meaningful things to address, not if he can tell a joke right.)
I don't care, as long as the candidate can get us universal healthcare, an environmental policy, and out of the war. Those are nowhere on the GOP agenda. No matter how lame the Dem contenders may seem, they are far better any Republican candidate, no question about it!
