When Fascism Comes
A nugget of truth from Ron Paul. This is in no way an endorsement of his presidential campaign. He would make a truly terrible president in my opinion.

I watched the Huckabee ad, and while I wish that religion and politics were divorced - I had less of a problem with Huckabee's ad than the Romney claim that there can be no liberty without faith. Huckabee is a Baptist minister - what did we expect from the guy? He is so obviously unqualified to be president (What is this, a science test?), that this ad doesn't get me upset. And the Sinclair Lewis quote is an old favorite of mine - just ask my daughter, she inherited it on a bumper sticker when I gave her my old Honda Civic!
Ron Paul does not accept biological evolution and; therefore, he is a failure as far as I am concerned.
He also wants to overturn Roe v. Wade and believes that the separation between church and state should not exist at the federal level.
It seems like he's only a libertarian when convenient for his beliefs.
He's right of course... but honestly, if subliminal representation of faith in a political ad was the most serious sign of Fascism happening in this election, I for one would be ecstatic.
He has never voted to raise taxes. He has never voted for an unbalanced budget. He has never voted to raise congressional pay. He has never taken a government-paid junket. He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch.
He voted against the Patriot Act. He voted against regulating the Internet. He voted against the Iraq war.
First glimpse at a Ron Paul Nugget? The man is rich in gold. I think his blimp is encrusted in lightweight gold. Even in that 10 second clip you've featured, if you look close enough there was a golden scepter of freedom floating next to Ron Paul's head.
TBH this is lightweight Ron Paul comments. If I had a vote I would probably not vote for him for what he stands on, however as a person/candidate he is light years ahead of who is out there (except maybe Kucinich).
Check out his vid where Fox news try to blast him on receiving a donation from a neo-nazi. He has the reporter eating humble pie.
It's not too hard to shine when you are running in a pack of dim-wits. No Republican President…even if they are actually a Libertarian.
When life is good it is easy to say no to taxes and entitlement. But fall through the cracks (which can happen to anyone) and you are shit-outta-luck in a Ron Paul world.
Starving and homeless? Too bad. Sick and can't afford medical treatment? Sorry, fuck off and die so you won't be a bother. It's passive eugenics.
The "Ron Paul doesn't believe in evolution" meme is disinformation.
Dr. Paul is an M.D., with a professional understanding of biology. He has been misrepresented and taken out of context.

I would also like to point out that America existed for over 200 years before the rise of the welfare state. We had cripples and poor then too. They did not die in the streets; they were aided by local churches, charities, and most importantly, their families.
Want to end poverty? Research austrian economics, and research the history of 19th century American immigrants- almost all of whom were in abject poverty when they arrived.
Happy to see all the Ron Paul love! See you at the primary.
Uh-oh, potential correction to myself (from my own link no less):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4af9Q0Fa4Q
In this clip Dr. Paul says he "rejects the theory of evolution and believes in a creator". Very disappointing.
On the plus side, he wants to abolish the Dept of Ed., so I guess its a moot point.
What confuses me most is that I've been in direct contact with his campaign myself, and they have also repeated the same "of course he knows evolution is real, he's a doctor" line on several occasions. I think my beloved Dr. Paul is playing politics.
I have my own boolean system for rating candidates:
Did they vote for the Iraq War?
Did they vote for the Patriot Act?
Those issues are more relevant to my opinion of the next President.
But, in all fairness, that is a very disappointing thing to see. And surprising, coming from a man of such integrity.
This isn't the 19th century.
I radically oppose abolishing the IRS, Social Security, healthcare for the elderly and veterans, the Department of Education…but hey I'm more liberal than Tim Robbins and don't believe Austrian Economics is all it is cracked up to be…especially considering the differences here in the U.S.. http://www.gmu.edu/departments/economics/bcaplan/whyaust.htm
Ron Paul is a radical anti-abortionist. He compares abortion to slavery and nazism! and talks about 45 million deaths of people.
http://www.prospect.org/cs/articles?article=ronpaulsabortion_rhetoric
He thinks that the market is best for dealing with health care and that somehow people will be able to negotiate with insurance companies and providers to get "good" deals.
What a wanker.
Here is an interesting speech before congress by one of Paul's opponents, McCain. He has certainly changed his tune on nation-building.

Another wanker, this time a flip-flopper.

Sorry for the multiple posts. The site didn't seem to want to connect and unfortunately I tried over. Please delete the repeats.
Hell even the democrats all claim to be Christians, so I really don't care that ron paul doesn't believe in evolution because religion isn't what is getting him followers. Small government, non interventionism, liberty, and the constitution are. And that is good enough for me. I could live with him kucinich or gravel. Frankly all the others are the same. Id put barack a little bit ahead of the rest of the big time losers. although i do like duncan hunter on border issues, close that shit down asap. I got a plan, we elect ron paul kick out all the mexicans who are here illegally, sorry it's time to wait in line, doing jobs "the white man just wont do", let ron paul clean out our corrupt government and then we've got our lettuce pickers and lawn mowers. Sorry but i dont trust the government with my money, no matter who the president is, becuase out of control spending is rampant, and the democrats dont seem to be any better than the idiot republicans. The democrats would sell our freedom for a little extra cash too.
Im not seeing anything, on the ron paul link, and everybody knows mccains an idiot. Whichever party starts the war, always has to back it, even when they were against other wars for the same reasons.

For some reason the link didn't copy/paste correctly.
I added the missing characters, which were underlines between words in the last part(ronpaulsabortion_rhetoric), above and I hope it works this time. If it still doesn't work, try adding the underlines to the earlier link yourself, or do a search on Ron Paul's Abortion Rhetoric.
bernarda,
To post a link, it is often better to type a name for the link with [ and ] around it, immediately followed by the web address with ( and ) around it.
Hope that helps.
Ron Paul claims to be a constitutionalist but his knowledge about the Constitution, history, and the intent of the founding fathers is on par with Bill O'Rielly, Sean Hannity, and the radical religious right. Read this essay written by Ron Paul.

If Ron Paul was not a major political figure he would be seen by anyone not blinded by the hoopla surrounding such figures as a bigot in disguise. I suggest you get the real low down on him. The following links from David over at Orcinus are a good place to start

The real Ron Paul surfaces
Wow, so many Ron Paul haters on this site, it kind of surprises me!
You know with Kucinich talking so highly of Ron Paul, I figure the man can't be THAT bad.
"You know with Kucinich talking so highly of Ron Paul, I figure the man can't be THAT bad."
Kucinich isn't that great, either. He, too, has a history of being anti-abortion and voting against it, but I'd take him over Paul any day.
Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like Gravel is (was?) the only qualified candidate, and he's pretty much out of the race already. Too bad.
My guess is that people who come to this site are the ones who want to see a mega-welfare state run by an atheist president with an agenda of abolishing religion from American people's life. Probably an extreme assumption though.
Ya think?
