Off topic a bit, but I had to share this "review" of the Golden Compass that I found on Rotten Tomatoes:

ok my little notes got a little messed up but anyway that movie dose not sound like something i would ever let my kids watch i literlygot a letter from my church saying that in the end of this movie the children kill god!!!!!!!!!! what the? why for any reason would anybody make a movie like that not bealiving in god is one thing but that just is way over the top and un called for why would you want little kids to think things like that are ok? i personally am going to make coppies of that letter from my church and hand them out every day that that movie is in theaters because what if parents dont know what this movie is about because lots of parents dont they just think ohhh that sound like a goood movie lets go see it and i dont think this movie is appropriet at all for any reason!!!! thats just my opinion but hey it should be thought over by all who are going to see this movie i willl not seee this movie!

I've been waiting for Beyond Belief '08! :D

re: Merry Mithras - http://www.cbc.ca/doczone/paganchrist.html :) based on Tom Harpur's The Pagan Christ - if you can get access to CBC Newsworld this Thursday it will be a show well worth watching.

re: at a loss for words

That's very close to where I live - I'm basically at the confluence of the Pend d'Oreille and Columbia rivers

See the View today? Anecdotal evidence that religion breeds ignorance.

Ok, Does this even make any sense?

Debbie Ratcliffe, a spokeswoman for the state’s education agency in Austin, said Ms. Comer “resigned. She wasn’t fired.” “Our job,” Ms. Ratcliffe added, “is to enact laws and regulations that are passed by the Legislature or the State Board of Education and not to inject personal opinions and beliefs.”

I'm no English scholar, but shouldn't she have said their job is to 'enforce' laws?
