I liked this excerpt from later in the interview: BILL MOYERS: It seems to me that this country has become two choirs-- each side listening to-- only to its own preachers. If-- should journalists take sides when everybody else is polarized
KEITH OLBERMANN: The definition now of being on one side is to have not-- flag wavingly supported the president in anything he wanted, not handed him carte blanche after carte blanche after carte blanche.
There is a sad and remarkable segment:
So it is now assumed that sports reporting is the place from which skepticism comes! How absolutely pitiful.
Excellent interview. Moyers brought out the best in Olbermann. I think KO reveres Moyers, as well he should. The questions from Moyers' staff were excellent. As for the sports connection, I can't agree with Tim's angst over it. KO came from sports broadcasting. I think he was just talking about where he learned his skepticism. Glad he learned it somewhere. Thanks for posting the link to the whole interview, Norm. It was well worth the time.
Glad he learned it somewhere.
Oh, I am too. My angst has to do with the fact that skepticism should have been a top priority with the rest of the press! I agree with you about the entire interview - Moyers is a professional.
Tim:
Not only skepticism, but matters of faith. Have you never read: "The Chicago Cubs: Tragedy and Hope"?
