- Huckabee wants Ten Commandments in the White House - The Carpetbagger Report
First, the notion that the Ten Commandments “form the basis of most of our laws” is transparently ridiculous. I don’t know if Huckabee has looked at the Commandments lately, but just the opposite is true.

- BBC NEWS | Middle East | Israel confirms settlement plans Israel claims to want peace and then as they've been doing for decades act in a way that makes that impossible. It also seems their promises are not worth a damn.
Israel plans to build 740 new homes in settlements in occupied East Jerusalem, a minister said, despite its commitment to freeze all settlement activity.
- Bested by the Brits - New York Times
There is good and bad to the news that Britain surpassed the United States for the first time ever in donations to the World Bank’s unit to combat world poverty.
This should help dispel the notion that the bank’s International Development Association is an arm of the United States Treasury doing Washington’s will around the world. The more depressing side to the news is that the United States — with an economy five times the size of Britain’s — is doing far less than it could and should to help the world’s poorest countries. - First Dec. 25 Xmas tied to pagan shrine - Yahoo! News
The church where the tradition of celebrating Christmas on Dec. 25 may have begun was built near a pagan shrine as part of an effort to spread Christianity, a leading Italian scholar says. . .
In 325, he convened the Council of Nicaea, which fixed the dates of important Christian festivals. It opted to mark Christmas, then celebrated at varying dates, on Dec. 25 to coincide with the Roman festival celebrating the birth of the sun god, Andrea Carandini, a professor of archaeology at Rome's La Sapienza University, told reporters Friday. - Respectful Insolence: Doonesbury on magical thinking

My favorite dickhead entry is #9:
I agree Israel should not be building any more settlements until issues are settled with the Palestinians. Nor should Hamas be lobbing missiles into Israel. Unfortunately, leaders are going to have to find a solution in spite of these violations, and neither should use these violations as excuses to stop trying to move the process forward.
The solution to lobbing missiles is to stop lobbing missiles. The solution to settlements is dismantling settlements which is more problematic. It looks like to me that Israel is setting up a take it or leave it position. Will you explain what Israel's motive is in going back on their word and approving more settlements?
The settlements seem to me to be the deal breaker here.
Ah, the good ol' 10 commandments where women are placed in the same category as cattle and other property.
You know, I wonder if he'll ban the talking Jesus doll because of his opposition to graven images? Nah, he doesn't understand his own religion like most fundies.
Hamas did not exist when Israelis started building their criminal settlements in these places.
The aggressor is Israel. You cannot put Hamas on the same plane as it. Terrorism began with the Israelis.
So many Dickheads, so few listed. But Maher's list is a good one - all are certifiable dickheads.
