In last night's CNN Democratic Debate the less popular candidates didn't get much time to talk, but when they did they made it count. Here is a clip of Dennis Kucinich insisting that there is a solution to the disaster called Bush and Cheney.

Man, he speaks so clearly, without the air of bullshit. It's a damn shame he doesn't have a chance in this media universe.

ya this debate really made me upset. i really wish i had a stopwatch and timed each candidates talking and i guarantee that dennis talked the least. cnn/msnbc does a terrible time with debates. i think the debates should only be with 3-4 candidates to discuss the issues and the next night the other ones get to talk on the same. dennis is the best candidate. he has my vote i just dont understand why he gets no attention but wins in some nationwide polls like this one....

he needs donations everyone. he needs our help. i read that if everyone who supported him just sent $25 that he would have enough money as john edwards which would be fantastic.

He just doesn't 'look' like a rockstar that's why. In fact, he does look kinda strange but I don't doubt his integrity.

Dennis would be a wonderful candidate if it wasn't for that terrible UFO comment the other day - I could never vote for someone who says they've seen ufos(using the extra terrestrial definition)
i wish he'd answered something like "I saw a flying object, but I have no reason to be sure it was extra terrestrial"

Personally, I'd vote for someone who thinks they saw a ufo over someone who believes there's an omnipotent intelligence that watches over us, desires our worship and answers prayer. At least Kucinich bases his odd belief on something he saw, rather than taking it for granted that it must be true because almost everyone believes in it.

If a president is allowed to believe in a an invisible man in the sky that created everything and is the one true religion, I'll accept Kucinich's BS with UFOs.

UFO-believers, Flying spaghetti monster-worshipers, and young earth creationists. also, "i'd make a better president because I used to be a pastor". WTF is wrong with this country.
Someone want to explain how it got to be that these are my only choices? Where is my rationalist? Why would I not be surprised it Dennis Kucinich was BFF with Sylvia Browne? Maybe i'm just tired of the horse race and the "gotcha" politiking that the media is doing, "oh, you support Giving Illegals teh id cardz... you must support terrorism!"
I'm going to sleep until this country wakes up.

Um...it's not like you have to "believe" in UFOs, or "not" believe in them. If you see something that happens to be flying, and you don't know what the fuck it is, IT'S A UFO! It's THAT simple. It's not like it's a religion people!
...I think Dennis finally won my vote in last night's Debate. To me it seem's like there's only two candidates that were on that stage, Dennis Kucinich, and everyone else. He is the only one up there who seems to be saying anything different at all.

@ Munkiefan
If you go to Chris Dodd's campaign website, they have a debate clock.

Ok, quick note, it's not that he said he saw a ufo that bugs me, it's this..
"He saw a gigantic triangular craft, silent and observing him. It hovered for about 10 minutes or so and sped away with a speed he couldn't comprehend. He felt a connection in his heart and heard directions in his mind."
He doesn't "think he saw one", it TALKED TO HIM and connected to it with his HEART. Ok, wtf. I understand visual distortion (i see shadows move, who doesn't) but to say you "heard directions in your mind" is a bit too nuts to just toss off.
I'll stand behind DK if he says "I think i saw a UFO, but the claims I had any connection to it are incorrect". Otherwise, he's as kooky as Pat Robertson thinking he talks to Jebus.

Ive always said kucinich is the best, he seems to be the only real democrat. I'm not sure if I agree with him on nuclear power, and yukka mountain, but owell. But jeez that debate last night was so pitiful, they really are no better than the republicans. Most will just say anything to get a vote, and flip flop every 2 seconds. As for seeing a ufo, I have seen one, and it didnt give me directions, but I definitly felt abnormal. The feeling probably just came from inside myself, because i was seeing something so weird and unexplainable but who knows. I think it's how i would feel if I found out there was a god or ghosts.

Do you have any proof to substantiate that DK actually said this?

Scratch that... I just saw the clip of the debate again. Even though he only admitted to seeing a UFO. The fact that he didn't deny the directions and connection comments is interesting, however, it certainly isn't any more delusional than someone who says "I am filled with the love of God."

If you'll read the quote I posted (from Shirley McClaine's book released November 6th I think, so i guess it's only as good as Shirley McClaine's word)
If you were running for president, and such a statement was made about you, wouldn't you want to deny it if it were false? DK's silence on the topic, if you'll excuse the phrase, is deafening.

UFO=UNIDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECT!!! he never said he saw aliens dont judge him on that comment. i really hope dodd, biden, or gravel officially drop out of the race soon and give dennis more time. i really like biden's experience but with domestic issues i think hes all wrong.
also how do you make that grey quote option on responses?

I agree with many of Dennis' policy Statements, I love his addition to these debates, and I have met him a number of times and think he is a great down to earth guy. That said, I wouldn't vote for him for president. He is a terrible representative of the left. With his "Department of Peace" proposals and UFO sightings, he is just never going to be sell to the general public. And its not all the media's fault although they don't give him the attention he deserves. If you want progress you have to sell ideas to the whole country and if you aren't willing to do that then you might as well give up now.
An earlier poster lists the DFA poll. That isn't a "poll". It is online voting amongst a very liberal constituency of largely former Dean folks. I have 5 email accounts, I can vote there 5 times if I want.

"...He felt a connection in his heart and heard directions in his mind."
Well first off, this was written and published in a book by the God Mother of his Daughter, right? That means she's a friend of family, so one can easily assume that he might have been trying to avoid hurting a loved one by not totally blow off her claim as a lie(seeing how this book was just recently published). However even if it turns out to be true...SO WHAT? It's not like he's out there campaigning to bring greater rights for Alien worshipers when he gets to the White House, he's not out going to Scientology Gatherings asking for money and by promising to bring greater tolerance for Marshans if he's made to be President. No, if this is even true, it was a personal statement he made to a loved one. It's none of our business and has NOTHING to do with his job if he were to become President...it's a total none issue.
Now if HE had brought this up, and started building his campaign around the issue the way many Politicians do with Christianity then that would obviously be a different issue, but as it turns out that just isn't the case.

"I could never vote for someone who says they've seen ufos(using the extra terrestrial definition)"
But you would vote for someone who believes in an invisible God, that died for there sins and listens to there prayers? I mean give me a break, that's what almost every single Presidential Candidate claims to believe in US political history, and THAT is less rational than claiming to have seen(or communicated with) a UFO? I think the reason so many people are tolerant with Christianity is because it's a mental illness that we all have experienced and can relate to from being exposed to it first hand. Once again, I have to point out that this has NOTHING to do with his job were he to become President.

O.K. Dennis,
You won me over with:
"Because I Read It"
And that was before I read about your impeachment effort that only you are willing to push to the front for attention. Where are the other voices? Why does Nancy P. insist on not dealing with this?
I'm now sure of my choice for the presidential election. It's hard to believe that there's actually someone that really understands what he's voting for or against, and takes action on it without regard to the political safety of that move. Or worrying if they'll lose some of their financial backing because of speaking what they feel.
I agree with several of the above comments, I'll vote for a person who says they had a UFO sighting long before supporting some a-hole that wants to have everyone believe in his invisible friend.
