God, do I love my school...sometimes. Still, I can't wait to see what they'll do with Kevorkian, when he visits in January.

"Gonzales protesters released from jail"

http://www.alligator.org/articles/2007/11/21/news/local/protesters.txt

From a PBS program, here is a clip of a negative campaign ad back in history against Thomas Jefferson.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KaPRnsgFxOU

When asked today about the protesters, Mr. Gonzales said, "I don't recall..."

Nice one Tim. I laughed out loud.

First time poster. This was a much less intrusive form of protesting a speech giver, than that glory hound who started yelling about how clever he was and how John Kerry wasn't etc. No one here got tasered, no one was dragged off screaming. Well Done and Effective.

It would have been funny if they tazed civil liberties.

Normally I don't like hecklers; people don't come for them but for the speaker. But this was classy. And totally apropriate. Hats off.

Hooray for my town. I didn't know about this until after it happened, unfortunately.

This type of self-gratifying nonsense is precisely why protesting is such a pointless act. Hooray, that kid now gets to be a hero and get laid by all his fellow rich, privileged college friends. Meanwhile, there are people out there fighting an actual, complex war ... something this kid (and all kids) know nothing about.

"I'm Civil Liberties!" Sure you are.

calligraph: Meet the University of Florida, a public university. As the name implies, it is publicly funded. Additionally, the state of Florida has a program called Bright Futures, wherein students receiving decent grades in High School (3.0 I think?) receive scholarships. In the cases where these students go to a public university, I believe the scholarship covers the entire cost of tuition.

Basically what I'm getting at here is that your assumption that these kids are rich and privileged is off base. Sure, there are rich, privileged kids here, but there are plenty who are not.

calligraph -

Actual complex wars? There's so many kids who know nothing about actual complex wars. Let's start with these kids:

G W Bush: Texas Air National Guard deserter - redeemed himself with harrowing jet landing in San Diego harbor

Dick "five-deferment" Cheney

and all the rest: John Ashcroft, Tom Delay (So many minority youths had volunteered for the well-paying military positions to escape poverty and the ghetto that there was literally no room for patriotic folks like himself), Elliott Abrams, Dick Armey, Bill Bennett, Pat Buchanan, Newt Gingrich, Phil Gramm Jack Kemp (medical deferment while in the NFL), Rush Limbaugh (deferment for ingrown hair follicle on his ass), Trent Lott, P.J. O'Rourke, Dan Quayle (Family got him into the Reserves - a regular Bushie), Pat Robertson (Father pulled him out of Korea as soon as the shooting began), Kenneth Starr (deferment for psoriasis), George Will, Mitt Romney (wished he'd gone, but high draft number kept him from volunteering), Mitt Romney's 5 sons (sacrificing here at home trying to keep a chickenhawk in the White House for another 4 years), Rudy Giuliani, and every other GOP candidate except John McCain.

The administration just turn this kind of protests to their own. Saying something like "Well at least we live in a country that allows these kinds of protests".

Brilliant! And no tasers either! Three cheers for all involved!

Thanks for making my day, Norm. Have a great holiday, y'all.

Well done Tim!!

Tim, you shouldn't slight college football and baseball player Bill O'Reilly who somehow didn't find the time to join the army.

Then there is also Holy Joe Lieberman who had law office duties.

As to calligraph, he may have had repetitive stress syndrome from handling his brushes, which he seems to use rather too broadly to write beautifully and ornamentally.
