I can't remember the last time I've been so moved by a photo. What is the source?

Phft, Georgie boy will be over with some blow, a bottle of Jack and his mariachi band to cheer the little tyke right up.
But yeah -- that picture did draw a few tears from my old, cynical self.
And then, we shouldn't forget that for every poor little American kid who loses his father, there are of course at least ten Iraqis. There are no dignified ceremonies to commemorate their loss, but I reckon it hurts no less for them.

I recommend tatooing that photo on the foreheads of Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Feith, Cambone, Wurmser, Abrams, Adelman, Gaffney, Pipes, Perle, Libby, Addington, Gonzales, the staff of the Office of Special Plans, all current Iran hawks, etc., etc., etc....

It seems people from every perspective draw a different lesson from the photo, see for example:

War, breaking little boy's hearts, so that grow up to be "warriors" like daddy was.
I read that article at blackfive (here's the correct URL: http://www.blackfive.net/main/2007/04/marinestaffse.html)
... and it was like perusing an alternate reality.
Thanks, Norm and Tim for the photo and links.

The fact that some of the soldiers fighting a pointless war in Iraq still support it, and ask for our support, is not an argument at all. They signed up to follow orders no matter what the orders are, not to build consensus. The war's stupidity is not at all dependent on what the soldiers say or feel.
From my perspective, those soldiers that support the war are poor deluded fools, and I wish they didn't have the bullets I bought for them loaded in a gun over there.
As for those soldiers that don't support it: how sad and tragic that they didn't realize how stupid the war was when they signed up to fight it.
Norm: there's something wrong with html script here. Can't post the correct link for that blackfive page (see also problems with the 2 posts above).
Here is the correct link in 3 separate lines, y'all; you'll have to reconstruct it manually ( replace [underscore] with the symbol: _ )
www.blackfive.net/main/2007/04/marine[underscore]staff[underscore]se.html
...or google: blackfive Golczynski
Peace!

Here's the article.
This is some pretty sick reading. The comments go along the lines of "He went in for a second tour, even though he didn't have to... So even if you feel sorry for him, his son, or is family, you CAN NOT criticize the government -- because he wasn't drafted, or stop-lossed."
These guys really are like the proverbial frogs in the pot.
