Site Changes

I want to thank the asshole who keeps posting my personal information on the blog and uses my name. He convinced me to upgrade to the latest version of MovableType. The changes are all under the hood and the problems with duplicate comments etc should occur less often. If you comment anonymously you now have to deal with the captcha (the funny little characters you have to type in). Who knows I may even close anonymous commenting entirely, though I don't have any immediate plans to do so. Typekey login problems have been solved and there are a number of other authentication services you can sign up for to avoid the captcha requirement including registering as a user on this site. OpenID is also a good option that will work on a number of sites and of course if you have a TypeKey identity that will work. Also Markdown will continue to work in the comments. If you have any questions you can reach me at normjenson@yahoo.com Oh, and if you have your own Movable Type site and need some professional help in upgrading I recommend Dan he can make the process almost painless and charges a reasonable fee.

Hey thanks for your work on a fine site, and Damn the trolls...

Hmm, unfortunately the internet is perfect for cowardly little people.

Love the site, visit everyday from here in NZ.

Sadly, I don't have time to read your site as closely as I would like, but I do stop in at least once every day. I like what you do and appreciate the energy you put into this place. Am very sorry to hear you're being hassled by a dickweed. I'll never understand the pathological need in some people to act out like a 2 year old. Stay strong, Norm.

You are a total coward for not using your real name.

Sorry to hear you're having trouble Norm, I hope the changes you are making take care of it.

You are a total coward for not using your real name.

That message is directed to whom?

I think Q was making a friendly ironic remark based on the fact that he never uses his real name either.

I've been checking out your site since way back when the only thing I liked was the Daily Show clips because I was conservative and Christian. Since then, I've become liberal and a metaphysical naturalist, and that's only made me like your site more. Keep it up.

Sorry to hear about the hassles someone is causing you. After checking my e-mail this is typically my next stop and it's a rare day that I don't visit. Thanks for the excellent site.

I must either be paranoid or maybe just overly sensitive.

If you dont want to get spammed from next time consider typing your address is as normjenson at yahoo dot com

Just my 2 cent for free D

Typekey isn't working btw.

Typekey isn't working btw.

Shit, It was working earlier today. I hope it's a problem on their end. Dar if you don't mind would you try registering as a onegoodmove user and see if it works. Log out of typekey if your in it and choose the top authentication choice and see if it works.

Keep up the excellent site. I visit every day from the office in London.

Wait, so which are you using? Norm or onegoodmove?

Took a while, but finally got one to work. Hopefully it shall be the last.

Norm, don't be surprised that people take revenege when you act like suck a dick to people sometimes.

Sorry to hear about that, Norm. Computers have just become far too easy to use, and the net far too easily reached, with the unfortunate egalitarian side effect that the lower end of the gene pool now has access to it...

Oh well.

Yay! Updated blog software! Way to go! Hopefully the broken posting and double, triple, quadruple, quintuple, sextuple, septuple and octuple posts will be a thing of the past.

Oh, but the CAPTCHA doesn't show up when previewing and then it won't let you post.

I STRONGLY recommend WordPress. Really.

Call me.

Here is a Hilarious shirt from Penny Arcade that I feel applies here.

Lets try this again,

One further thing that I would like to request. I don't know how hard it would be, but if it's not too much of a problem, perhaps a way to turn off Markup? The previous post i posted has some underscores in the URL which cause italics in Markup.

This is just a suggestion, and I have no idea if it's easy to do, but if so, i think it would be great. It's a minor annoyance, but the only one I have with this site.

It must have been on typekey's end. I didn't do anything differnt and it's working now.

Eric's got the right interpretation, Norm.

Truly love and appreciate the site, I visit daily and forward links here to friends all the time.

It is classic dickwaddery to respond to logical arguments with personal attacks, and sadly it seems to be far too common these days.

Keep up the good work.

perhaps a way to turn off Markup?

I don't know of a way to selectively turn it on or off. and would hate to give up preceding quoted text with a greater than sign for enclosing it in blockquote tags. You could try putting the link text in square brackets followed by the link in parentheses. Markdown Basics to avoid the problem.

Thanks for the Markdown language basics. I've known the good ol' html tags for a while, but Markdown is still relatively new to me. Keep up the good work norm

It would be a shame to have to alter this excellent site because of a net-tard or two. Business reasons compel me to use less than my full name but I use typekey precisely because it gives site monitors a traceable path if they really feel I,ve stepped out of line. It's only fair.

Norm-sorry for the dickweeds who haven't the courage to come out except under virtual dark of night. Thank you for the website, I enjoy in particular the video clips and the comments.

I try to check in with this site a couple of times a week, and I've been rewarded with some of the finest (and funniest) links and vids that I've encountered anywhere in cyberworld. gracias, norm.

Please keep up the good work! I love your site and visit everyday! To quote the great Kris Kristopherson, 'don't let the b-stards get you down!!' :)

Chex in Beantown, Mass

When idiots attack it is a sign you're doing something right…Not that it is much consolation, but you have many friends who appreciate the hard work.

Thank you norm (if that is your real name!)
