as a general rule, anyone who starts a sentence with "i personally believe ..." is stalling and is moments away from executing the proverbial "epic fail."
As a teacher, I'm asked by a lot of adults, what's our future going to look like? I say, forget our future....we ain't gonna see our future with the adults f*cking things up right now. If kids make mistakes, I usually tell them, it's OK, I made mistakes, this is the time to make mistakes. Just learn from them. I think the adults scare me more than the kids. That's usually what I say. Anyway. This reminds me of the bit Jon Stewart did recently in which he says when the President uses the words "in other words" it means that he has no idea what he's talking about and he's trying to say things in different words.......but he's still saying the same thing.
Bill Maher is nasty, mean and intolerant in this clip. He is becoming the Bill O of the left.
maher's a bit shallow and callous at times
Miss teen South Carolina choked on one question. However Mr. Bush has been screwing up for the past six years. She has a lot of catching up to do before she starts to look as bad as Bush, her educational peer.
I wondered how long before someone made that connection. I too was dumbfounded by the blithering idiot response the girl gave but cut her some slack, she's very young, a product of the American public education system, and a beauty pageant contestant. What do you explect.
The president on the other hand is just as clueless off script but he's the bloody president of the USA. Dare I say, ARRRGh!
Haha! This makes me think of something I just barely saw. You've gotta check this out: http://likesuchas.ytmnd.com/

it is getting a bit much. Poor girl must be traumatized by now. Its not even her fault. If she's that uneducated, then its our fualt and if she is that stupid, then its genetics so we can blame her parents and their bad genes.
That aside, TC is right, its the adults that scare the shit out of me. Why? Because we are all overgrown children who think we know better, most of us have enough doubt in our own sanity and understanding to be cautious, but some of us, like our national leaders, take themselves so seriously that they begin to consider themselves infalable.
The trauma that this "poor girl" endured left her no worse for wear -- she went on a major national TV show a couple of days later, and "re-answered" the question. In doing so, she actually bragged about how she and all her friends were capable of finding the US on a map -- AS IF THIS WAS SOME KIND OF AN INTELLECTUAL FEAT!
The hosts applauded her, and one of em actually high-fived her for this achievement.
They celebrated her idiocy.
Obviously, what Bush has done is far worse than anything this hapless bimbo will ever do -- but by making excuses for stupidity, you are contributing to the mess.
"How can 59,017,382 people be so DUMB?" is a valid question...
I'm not too concerned about the girls' trauma, I was hoping it might inspire her to do some real reading. But the response to her genius ability to find the US on a map, indicates I was hoping for too much.
The ignorance and the infantile nature of what Americans have become is a HUGE obsticle to regaining democracy in that country.

BUT the exact same thing can be said about Bush? I mean really, she's not seven, she's 17 - mature enough to enlist in the Army (and go fight in The Iraq, incidentally. Well at least she'd learn how to use a map then.)
She obviously choked. She was trying to say: "we have too many poor, and they don't have the time/money to have maps and that we need to help them like we do in Africa & Iraq, but I'm not saying that we need to take anything away from them, but you know, we got to help the children" or something like that...
lol
Only she blew it, her brain froze, and what came out made her seem like a real ditz.
I think it's interesting how Bush has been talking like this for years, and when you go to transcripts they will often put in the right word that he 'intended'...
