Norm, Why do you hate America?

Tim, Why do you Troll?

Talking with several friends who were born and raised overseas, it seems to be par for the course when it comes to Europeans being critical of the United States government. I just wish we, as American citizens, would do the patriotic thing and ask our government, "Why?" and not leave the room until they actually answer us for a change.

Tim, Why do you Troll?

kiteless,

It was a joke - as I'm pretty sure Norm was aware.

Norm, Why don't we just buy some island and make our own country where we ban religion and Republican'ts - the mormons got directed to one barren ugly place by their god. Surely we can do better. You can declare the island as "the place" on your next b-day July 25th. We'll all where that ridiculous hat i showed you.

I already do live in a place like that, it's called Seattle (or at least I did before I decided to go on permanent vacation). The same can be said for just about every big city in the U.S. (and Manhattan already is an island). It's kind of like the Chris Rock routine about black people: There are Americans and hicks. Hicks have GOT to go.

That'll only provoke them to buy and drive Hummers and SUBs all over the place to make the water level rise and sink your island so they can point and laugh and say "Look what God did to you".

Hey, do ya think that would work on Cuba? Man, that's what I call thinking outside the box! Great idea Gualdar ;-)

Anybody want my Pontiac Vibe? Or should I trade it in?

He's a complete muppet obsessed with how evil Margret Thatcher was. You won't hear him critize the Labour government because he is bought and paid for.

None of the Americans here really hate America, it's just a little club they join so they can feel superior to everyone else. If they really hated it here, they'd leave. They're the bratty little kids at the party who just can't admit they're having fun - that wouldn't be cool.

LOL. Seattle - home of one of the bigger dot com yuppie booms, adjacent to Microsoftopia. A city that exists because of large corporations: Microsoft, Boeing, Intel, Nintendo. Home to several of the world's richest people (Paul Allen, Bill Gates, etc). Yeah, real liberal utopia - if by that you mean a place where your rich parents pay for you to pretend you like living poor.

And no hicks? Have you never been to Bremerton? Kirkland? Monroe? I bet ten bucks you live on Capitol Hill and think culture is your local closet-sized "avant-garde theatre" doing yet another production of "The Fever". Those poor people are interesting, but not as much as my guilt!

I think it's more like Al Franken put it:
Liberals like me love America. We just love America in a different way. You love America like a 4-year-old loves his mommy. Liberals love America like grown-ups. To a 4-year-old, everything Mommy does is wonderful and anyone who criticizes Mommy is bad. Grown-up love means actually understanding what you love, taking the good with the bad and helping your loved one grow. Love takes attention and work and is the best thing in the world. That's why we liberals want America to do the right thing. We know America is the hope of the world, and we love it and want it to do well. We also want it to do good.

Amusing and accurate, though I must admit that I'm growing tired of English commentators who constantly criticize the global dominion of the United States without any mention of British Empire. I don't dispute their claims about our government in the slightest, but get some bloody context. The current war in Iraq may be a tragic American disaster, but that doesn't absolve the Brits of the damage they caused before we got there. To quote Bill Bradley:

"You're not going to create a liberal democracy out of three provinces of the former Ottoman Empire that are really a figment of Winston Churchill's imagination."

I just wish some of them would recognize that.

T4T doesn't really hate onegoodmove, it's just a blog he hangs around and delivers harangues so he can feel superior to the nasty liberals here. If he really hated them, he'd leave. He's a bratty little kid at a party who can't leave because he loves to bitch.

The fact is that every good place to live in America is controlled by liberals. Every big city voted against Bush, most overwhelmingly so. Why is it that education and liberal politics generally go hand-in-hand?

I wonder which fly-over, red state shit hole Teabagger calls home? Ten bucks wouldn't be enough for me to even consider thinking about what he calls culture.

My theory is that he was molested by a hippie, possibly hippies, maybe even many, many, many hippies. I'm thinking that it was probably a psychedelic school bus full of anti-war protesters. He has a love/hate relationship with liberal politics. He suffers terrible guilt feelings when he decides to spend an entire weekend working a port-o-potty glory hole at a Grateful Dead cover band concert. Some see his comments as the work of a troll; I see them as a desperate cry for help. We probably have a free clinic in Seattle where you can get the help you need.

As they say in the internets: pwned!!1
