Embattled Attorney General Resigns - New York Times

Oh goody we get rid of one sycophant and wait for another.

WACO, Tex., Aug. 27 — Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales, whose tenure has been marred by controversy and accusations of perjury before Congress, has resigned. He is expected to announce the decision to reporters at 10:30 Eastern time this morning in Washington.

Mr. Bush has not yet chosen a replacement but will not leave the position open long, the official said early this morning, speaking on condition of anonymity because the resignation had not yet been made public.

The Bush Administration is like the Muppet Show where 2 characters get killed off every year and replaced with another new talking head spewing the same old rhetoric. Only thing for certain is they are never going to get rid of Kermit untill the show is canceled.

That's a horrible thing to say -- in the sense that you're leaving out the horrible fact that there are a bunch of muppets around here, who keep voting for these shitheads...

At least in the Mupper Show, Kermit was the star -- here, it's more like Beaker is running the show.

You have a point but I would only have to completely agree with you had Beaker not been so articulate on the show.

I believe Fozzie bear would be a better analogy.

"Giving more children health care is the road to socialized medicine. Wakka Wakka Wakka!" -Fozzie Bush.

I wonder if they are letting Gonzo the Great leave with all of his chickens. Looks like he'll have to become a lobbyist to impress Camilla chicken now.

Oh, and Beaker and Dr. Bunsen Honeydew left over being censored in their latest report. When reached for comment, Beaker replied "Meep-meep meep meep."

I wonder what was going on behind the scenes. Gonzales seemed determined to carry on - was the prospect of impeachment proceedings becoming more real?

Bush's response to the resignation made me spit out my coffee.

There's still time. He was appointed. methinks, because of Bush's magical thinking, his intials, A.G., God must want him to be A.G., I think he "thinks": A.G., A.G.

G-agggggg.

I think GOD/(GOP? not necessarily) wants Alberto on the supreme court. Imagine magically: Alberto, Harriet, Clarence, and...

the other guys (Placido Dominguez, or is it Scaly Reptilez?, etc., whomever). i-Magic!

It has oft been noted, Alberto would make the perfect comic stripper, Alberto/Dilberto. Scott Adams biz strip is stale. It's his chance to transfer his speaking-in-verse/rhymes disease to Politics. If he can't picture in thoughts, maybe he can still think in pictures.

Comics skim muck.

One down, two to go.

I guess this is the time for us all to write to our senators, urging them to adopt a policy of zero tolerance (with respect to torture and wiretapping and so forth) during the confirmation hearings for the next AG.

Not that I'm that optimistic, but it can't hurt, right?

Gonzo's replacement? What's Brownie up to these days? Might he not be an improvement? After all the man was famous for inaction and at this point, that would be the best we could hope for.

We could hope for an Attorney General who actually had an interest in prosecuting people who cheat the taxpayers out of untold billions of dollars, but (sigh) that would be hoping for too much since those guys are running the government:

I think he picked this week to resign because Jon Stewart is on vacation.
