Butterflies want their civil liberties returned, being the symbol of all free things? What about the reductio absurdum of a world so corrupt and warped that even butterflies have noticed and organize to impeach? Does this help?

When I first saw the butterflies on 1gm, I was shocked. I was wondering if Norm was just trying to show us his sensitive side. ;)

I'm thrilled and flattered that Norm Jenson of onegoodmove.org has posted this image on his website. I've been watching the comments with interest and the consensus seems to be a big "Huh?" Anberlin32, you're not alone by any means. There really isn't a huge concept at work here. It tickled me to think about a PAC of butterflies organizing to impeach Bush and Cheney. After all, my reasoning went, butterflies are icons of freedom, and if they ever stopped flitting around tlong enough to pay attention to current events, they'd be appalled at how our Constitutional freedoms have been systematically dismantled for our own "protection." Butterflies would not approve. I don't either. I'd put the image together to practice drawing paths with Photoshop's pen tool, so when this idea struck my fancy, I gave it a headline and here we are. I thought it was funny, but then I guess I'm a bit weird.

Oh I get it now. It's hippie bullshit. I feel kind of foolish for trying to figure it out. But I am also a bit relieved that I couldn't.

Butterflies are icons of freedom -- everyone knows that! Just like penguins are anti-slavery activists, and aardvarks are Fair Trade proponents.
