Virtue
One is often told that it is a very wrong thing to attack religion, because religion makes men virtuous. So I am told; I have not noticed it.— Bertrand Russell

i've certainly met men (people, i mean) who's religion makes them virtuous. i've also met people who's objections to religion makes them virtuous. as has been pointed out here many times, virtue and religion are simply seperate issues. or, as i see it, religion is the nucleus of the atom around which orbit the electrons of virtue and, uh, malevolence. or something like that. look, it was a long night. i'm making this shit up as i go along.
Ah. Mr Becker, your candor is refreshing...
Of course it is the external hierarchical systems of control which mold men's hearts to virtue. Never let the proles believe that men should mold the system to their own sense of virtue...
smug, yes. Self-righteous, yes. Virtuos, no.
