John Cusack
This guy is not a movie star...he's an actor - there's a difference.
His new film is called "Grace," where Cusack plays a married guy, with two young daughters. His wife is in the U.S. army and she gets killed in Iraq.
When Cusack's character finds out, he can't tell his daughters. So, he takes them to an amusement park to buy a few days before he breaks it to them.

Stroumboulopoulos does a great job on the hour. he was very respectful when interviewing Richard Dawkins and recently a Satanist as well. i don't get what u mean by cusack's not a movie star- but an actor. oh well i'm going to sleep now.
thanks again for the great posts and making your videos "downloadable"- i don't watch tv since i get "the best of" from your blog!
A Hollywood star is not necessarily an actor. And an actor is not necessarily a Hollywood star. As much as I dislike Cusack's attitude toward Savage Steve Holland and the quirky films he made when he was younger starring Cusack (Better Off Dead & One Crazy Summer), I still like Cusack as a actor.
And that's just it, Cusack truly is an actor. An actor cares more about the role he portrays than the glitz surrounding it. He often looks for roles that mean something to him and challenge him. Oh yeah, and he can actually act! Another important part of being an actor. It is actually 60% of the word.
Think about all the movies you've seen with those glitzy Hollywood stars, how many of them can actually act?
B-b-but, Matthew Mcconaughey... you can't be right... it's not true... noooo!
Have always liked John Cusack movies. I have an intense dislike for the characters Joan Cusack plays, but I suppose that was the purpose of her portrayal. Shame these two are in so few movies.
Title is 'Grace is Gone', likely due to two features titled 'Grace' in the past two years.
aye, there's the rub. Nice interview.
funny thing, when Stroumboulopoulos said, "Everybody knew what they were voting for," I said to my screen, "I don't know if they did." And a half-second behind me, Cusack said the same thing.
his explanation that followed was quite good.
A nice little piece, but it must somehow be arranged that the interview camera operator will never work again.
This was worse than watching "Breaking The Waves", a Dramamine experience x10.

Good interview, I agree that I don't know if Americans knew what they were voting for, but really when the past 2 presidential races were centered around abortion and gay rights issues, I gotta a say they kind of did. Besides, half the disillusioned eligible public was (justifiably) not voting and the remaining actual voters only end up getting their decision made for them by electronic voting machines. Voting is broken, the political system is broken. And truth be told, I fear real democracy in this country, simply because I fear what the majority would impose upon an atheist, humanist, naturalist, politically anarchist, vegetarian like myself.
Go CBC! Our (Canada's) public broadcasting, except with a bit more funding than PBS, heh.
