Late Show w/David Letterman

Not much of a physical resemblance, but his humor style and delivery are reminiscent of Woody Allen.
Thanks for always cheering us up, Norm. Much needed.
Want to know what the Koreans were doing in Afghanistan when they were kidnapped. See this http://youtube.com/watch?v=G07u0x82aQw Its horrible
Traditional delivery/routine. Good stuff. Good content.
Wow.. that guy was solid! Nice to see some straightforward comedy w/actual jokes and w/o relying on a gimmick.
Yea NK, that's terrible. Taliban asshats indiscriminately kidnapping and murdering humanitarian volunteers = kinda bad but not worth fussing about, making kids sing I heart jesus songs like they'd even know the words they're speaking = truly horrible, criminal in fact. Nice to see you voice your offense at the true crime here. Reminds me of what Hitchins said about Rushdie. what's criminal wasn't that a price was put on his head and he was condemned to be murdered for his actions, the real crime is that he wrote a novel that offended the sensibilities of religious fanatics. It's the so-and-so brought it on themselves argument. I do agree with you in the instance of disliking that Christian missionary shit, but considering the conditions the Afghan people live in, the aid services are probably welcomed even if the preachy songs aren't. And as a secularist I'm admittedly too much of a coward to go over myself to provide the non-religious support, so by all means let the Christian missionaries take it upon themselves to go. Preaching jesus loves you isn't going to solve much but it certainly isn't going to bring the country to ruin.
I've been going back watching old Dr. Katz episodes, and I recognized a lot of his jokes from the episode he was on. Back in 1996. It's still funny, but man, 11 year old jokes?
dude... not funny.
except the baby not marrying another twice his age joke, it was a 4, in a 0-10 scale.
It was straight-up stand-up ... and it was good. I like the passive-aggressive school bully – as Emphyrio said, a joke you'd expect from Woody Allen.
He had some decent material, but I've never liked that style of comedy. I don't need gimmicks, but I'm don't like the Woody Allen-esque presentation.
Nor do I like comedians with excessive pauses in general, waiting for applause. It is an expectation to laugh and applaud. Whether the joke is funny or not, they are saying "laugh and applaud anyway".
I'm not going to laugh or applaud if it isn't funny. You're up there to make me laugh, funnyman. So, do your job right and you won't need the handouts.
Argh wtf? Stand up's that conisists of these pathetically small one liners are crap! No intelligence, no thought, he could have bought a 'Comedy One Liners!' book and simply read from that for all the talent i saw here. Fuck sake get a clue, watch Frasier or something, (without meaning to sound up myself...) if you're able to understand the jokes on frasier then you'll never be able to go back to this type of shit.
What's with all the negativity in the comments on this blog? Or wasn't I paying attention before?
We're just being honest.
Two or three mildly good ones (yeah, passive aggressive bully was nice), but overall pretty loose. I was thinking "when is he going to stop the quick warmup and start with the funny stuff?".
Sorry. Didn't laugh once. It's ok for Letterman or Leno to pull one ten-second split after another, but this guy's entire routine consists of it. I've heard jokes of a similar caliber from the mouth of an 11-year old on Britain's Got Talent.
Hey Norm, why don't you have the onegoodmove address and slogan at the end of your videos anymore?
Wow. That was really bad. I'm really surprised to see it here.
Sorry, not funny.
A delivery style so old it almost seems new.
i got a few chuckles but i have no desire to see him do more stand up.
Not funny
Yeah cris.. frasier is the pinnacle of comedy.
Let's see your standup act then we'll talk.
Bah, knew someone would say that well over used line 'I'd like to see your...'. I never claimed my stand up was better. At most i said i could do an equaly good act by reading from a book of one liners.
hmmm... wouldn't say frasier is the pinnacle of comedy, and comparing stand-up with a sitcom isn't exactly fair... But that guy's style of comedy is just 20 or jokes in the exact same format.
Jimmy Carr (crap english one liner guy) does the same. But even worse he delivers each one of his jokes using the exact same tones of voice, so they sound even more alike...
i dispair... then put on something funny.
Retro vs proto comedy…wow!. I guess to fully appreciate the flavor one has to have been around when old school was fresh.
Thanks norm.
though i admit comedy can be divided into "styles", i'm more interested in content than categorization. in this style, this guy wasn't bad, but no one, for my money, has topped steven wright.
Steven Wright seems a strange comparison (if that's what you were doing). I'm reminded of Bob Newhart.
I thought he was funny, though I didn't laugh out loud. I enjoyed it.
yes, i was making a comparison. i like bob newhart too. i didn't think the reference to steven wright was SO off, if one allows for a category of laconic, white, nebbishy-but-non-jewish comics of the sort of woody allen school....but i could certainly see the case for the non-existence of such a category, too. i guess i really just wanted to give a shoutout to any other steven wright fans who might be hanging around these parts. :)
I'm with David on this one, I kept waiting for it to get going and it never did. Must not be my type of humor because it didn't draw a laugh out of me. I'll take some Red Skelton instead.
