Hillary, if nominated, will snatch defeat from the jaws of Dem victory and join Dukakis and Mondale in the lineup of those asking "How could they win again?"

You can see it coming from miles away.

I do NOT want Hillary to win the nomination (I agree with shrike) but...I didn't think the column was funny at all. I think the right wing has demonized Hillary long before she was even relevant in most people's world. And, I think people on the left picked it up like they have so many other right wing talking points....Without even realizing it, we are spouting the same jokes, misquotes, etc.

re:"hipsters prepare to die"

one of the most lugubrious pieces i've ever seen. chock full of terrific quotes, too. so as not to bore you i'll choose only one:

Hipster irony is at bottom a preoccupation with the problem of origins..."

i just wonder, how many of the atheist vanguard (and i'm not referring to the young "troops" referred to recently at another thread) are ageing hipsters? i wonder, given the use of the time machine i keep hoping will be invented in my lifetime, how much fun richard dawkins at age 19 would be to hang out with?

Maybe you already know this site "Liveleak", but if you don't it is a source for many raw videos, and I do mean "raw".

There are a lot of common crime ones, but there are also war ones.

Re: the first link.

As much as I look forward to a Democratic presidency. I'm loathing a likely Hillary presidency. She is going to be yet another corporatist.

She'll make an attempt to mask it, but it is going to the the same old thing.. just dressed up a bit better

Wow, 41% believe Saddam attacked us and according to the recent CBS poll 41% say we did the right thing invading Iraq... I wonder if it's a coincidence that the exact same amount of people are so totally clueless - or as Norm more accurately put it, "ignorant fucks."

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/10/10/opinion/polls/main930772.shtml

Oh, and not surprisingly, almost the exact same amount of Americans call themselves born-again or evangelical Christians... Just saying.

Oops, I posted a link to an old poll. The current numbers are down in the twenties of those who are for the war. Sorry for the stupid mistake. Still gotta wonder why people who think Iraq attacked us on 9/11 would be so against the war now though? Odd.

In Kansas, what topic is chief? Is it corn, is it wheat, is it beef? It's the silly to-do Over faith and what's true: Evolution or Christian belief.

That limerick dictionary is fabulous.

Okay, this one wins.

Every man has beliefs he holds dear,
Where his faith is unshakably clear.
My belief is devout,
With no shadow of doubt:
I believe that I'll order more beer.

And this one isn't so bad either :p

Our beliefs have wrought death on this earth
By creating more mayhem than mirth.
Now billions have died
Due to addle-brained pride
Over this or that marvellous birth.

Here's the religion topic.
