Cause when you hurt George Bush, you hurt America's feelings, and when you hurt America's feelings you hurt the troops, and when that happens Tinker Bell's light goes out and she dies
HahaHA
My respect for Bill Maher just went up 300%.
New Rule: All of the hicks in the red states must now watch Bill Maher and The Daily Show regularly (or watch the highlights here at OGM like all of us deadbeats without cable TV or living on different continents).
I also can’t believe that Carter capitulated to the administration. Are they going to apologize for calling him irrelevant? Whatever the hell that means. Are you irrelevant if your foreign policy is a disaster and your domestic policy is nonexistent?
That was on of the best Maher clips ever.
New Rule: Bill Maher should think twice before making utterly misogynistic rules. "Catfight"? "Lesbianism"? None of that blatantly sexist and irrelevant commentary would be made If the view's hosts were men.
Who's the guy who's every reaction shot shows him with his face bowed down because he's laughing with such genuine helplessness?
Willie, I'm not 100% certain, but it looks like P.J. O'Rourke, one of the few actually witty conservatives that I'm aware of. Always surprised that you don't see more of him on the tube...
It's P.J. O'Rourke. 100% certain.
the part with hoover was kinda stupid
It bugs me that he laughs so much at his own jokes.
Maher nailed this one.
The democrats said they would be the party of change, and that they would remove the 'rubber stamp' mind set from the legislative branch of government. With the recent Iraq War Spending Bill, it has become farily obvious that they didn't really mean it.
As for Carter, Maher was also spot on in that area. He shouldn't have backed down the way he did. Personally, I'm wondering if the Bushies found some way to lean on Carter to make him take it back. Otherwise he wouldn't have had any reason to do so.
His statement about Bush was clear and to the point. It wasn't taken out of context by the press, and he didn't mispeak. He said what he thought was true, and now he is taking it back. The only question is why.
That was great
What they said.
No, no, no... You got that all wrong. The only sexist thing about The View, is that it exists at all. It is sexist on account of the network, on account of the women who appear on it, and on account of the women who watch it.
Who the hell would watch The View, if it was hosted by four guys?
Four guys would be OK but only if the fights were physical and staged in the Octagon of Death.
Then perhaps they could have guest stars like maybe Bill O'Lairly and Tito Ortiz to 'discuss' Mexican Americans and immigration policy, in the Octagon. First they argue, then they fight. The winner of the fight wins the argument.
On a serious note. I was very disapointed when Carter backed down from what he plainly said about the Bush presidency. I don't care if Tinker Bell dies.
Carter is a bright man with a lot of great ideas but cajones, he don't got.
I really dont think its a matter of cajones.
Carter had no reason to take that shit back. I still bet that the Bush administration found some way to strong arm him into doing it.
I wouldn't put it past them either.
That story about Gonzales and his thugs going to the hospital, on orders from Bush, to push Ashcroft around shows how far these slimeballs will go.
It's like their fucking mafioso or something.
*they're.
:)
There was a show called "The Other Half" that had Mario Lopez, Danny Bonaduce, and Dick Clark (!) amongst others, that was basically the View for guys. It failed.
I agree that it was irrelevant and you're right, if they were men it wouldn't be lesbianism. Also men don't catfight, they "Crossfire".
So if Bill made a joke about Tucker introducing Bob Novack to felching I wouldn't cry about it. I would laugh because, and this is the main point, it was a joke. Or maybe I wouldn't laugh if it wasn't funny, but I definitely wouldn't lose sleep over it.
So aside from that one bad joke I think I'm going to print these New Rules out and post them on my desk somewhere. They're bloody fantastic-o.
Okay, The View with uh, I dunno -- Tony Snow, Falafelboy, Ann Coulter and Tank Abbott -- now, that's a show I could watch. Topic: Tank Abbott is a pillow-biting, shitbox truffle-hunting homo girlie-man. And yeah, free tequila for everyone.
That'd be glorious. Simply glorious.
the thing about carter's statement is what was ignored, what about ford's which said nearly the exact same thng, and he was a rethug.
yeah, I was thinking about a version with Tank Abbot. Like change the guests every week, always having at least one man ape bone crusher on the show. That could premire on Spike and do very well.
Re Mister Carter and cajones. I stand by it. Cahones is resisting pressure not telling the truth when all agree. I liked Carter as a man but I always thought he was too weak to be a president. I think history bears that out.
I think his problem is that he is a genuinely kind, good natured, generous spirted person. It is one thing to be smarter than the sharks around you, it is another thing to force them to listen to you. Carter never had that part.
He almost always backed down in confrontations. Cahonies or anything you want to call it, a certain intestinal fortitude he did not display.
Carter may have been mealy mouthed in that case but he's not weak in the things he has stood up for. You don't think it takes balls to say "peace, not aparteid"? He didn't back down from that. He's probably one of the few presidents in the past half century who was really willing to tell people things they didn't like to hear. Like the fact that the energy crisis in the 70s was in part the fault of American consumption habits.
As for the congressional Democrats, it was a pretty disappointing compromise. The least they could have done would be to debunk the myth that defunding the war in some way endangers the troops in the field. In fact some Dems like Obama explicitly endorsed that fraudulent line of thinking.
"New Rule: Bill Maher should think twice before making utterly misogynistic rules. "
New Rule: if you're a man-hating woman who is uncomfortable with her own femininity, don't take it out on everyone else. The fact that you try to call Maher's utterly harmless comment 'misogynistic' is just another proof that our society is over-feminized.
"New Rule: All of the hicks in the red states must now watch Bill Maher and The Daily Show regularly"
And they say you guys are all elitist, snobbish assholes. How dare they. Make sure you get Jon Stewart's approval before your next comment.
Hey T4 I don't mind a troll that makes a cogent argument from time to time but you are just full of nastiness. Please take it somewhere else.
Maher is an intolerant demagogue who likes to think that what he thinks is funny is hiding his bitterness. OK Bill, we heard you about Giuliani dressing up, how many times must you say it???
