He better run in 08. Recruit Gore!
Nah, he's too busy to do stupid shit like that. Next election maybe, but right now I am sure he has better things to do them campaign. He's gotten global recognition, more respect then Bush and has alot more freedom of how he goes about his business then he would as president.
It would be wonderful to look to an America in the care of this well-spoken, thoughtful, intelligent, reasonable leader among men.
One day perhaps.
Again, Noam Chomsky and Edward Hermann's "Propaganda model" in the backgound. A must-read for every skeptical citizen: "Manufacturing Consent" and "Understanding Power".
Politics are manipulated by corporate interests that lead to ecological destruction, social disaster, poverty and misery for many; enrichment and accumulation for a few.
Thank you to Mr. Gore who vulgarizes all these important subjects and brings them to many people.

If Gore were to run in 2008 and somehow lose, especially to lose the initial Democratic nomination, would his voice hold as much weight?
You can find your congressman's voting record at Project Vote Smart. Unfortunately it's by state or zip code, but it's enough information to know how your congressmen voted. I was able to see both the 5/10 and 5/24 votes.
He's running. look at the hair and the suit. if he was just plugging his book he would have dressed like he did on the daily show last week.
Think about it, why would he waste a whole lot of money to share the spotlight with all the other candidates leading up to the primary, while by waiting he takes over the spotlight entirely when he steps in at the last minute. I hope he waits even longer, and then wins again.
I dunno. I wasn't really impressed with his performance here. It seems whenever he has his suit and tie on, Gore's famous long-winded drone comes back full-force.
I agree with what Michael Moore said about the man, he should be the one we elect in 08 because not only is he eminently qualified for the position but it would help to right the terrible wrong of the 2000 election that gave us the pitiful excuse for a President we have now. Remember, this election is 17 months in the future! By any earlier Presidential campaign time standards he would be starting right on time if he announced his candidacy by the end of this year! Albert Gore is more relavent and well-known on the poltical scene now than he was in 2000 because of the true and honest pursuit of his convictions he has demonstrated outside of office. He was the best qualified in 2000, he positively deserves and has earned it in 2008. Obama and Hillary give me the heebie jeebies already and this is pre-early in the election cycle. Give me a candidate I can vote for because of who and what they are, rather than are not! It would be the toughest 4 (hopefully 8) years of his life but God, this man could really restore my faith in the American electoral process and people.
Thanks for the link ordinarygirl. Here's another: http://thomas.loc.gov. YOu may find this one more handy. It's definitely thorough!
Gore made good points, but Patrick's right: Gore is much more academic and less engaging in this format. zzzzz
"The Assault on Reason" was preceded by Gene Shalit's "Dumbth" back in the '90's. Shalit painted a picture of a public with fewer reasoning skills, and gave ways to bounce out of that tract. Too bad that book wasn't on required reading lists, cause look at us now!
Aaagh! I was on my way out the door and realized I meant Steve Allen - NOT Gene Shalit. Sorry! Got my media guys mixed up.
Al Gore ran for President once before - here's how it looked:

i agree with yurko. and for whatever its worth (not much, i know, as i haven't lived in america for over 20 years) i wouldn't mind seeing gore as president. which is not to say i'm crazy about him- we can only hope, for instance that his wifes weird and disturbing obsession with rock lyrics is behind her- but compared to the other options, he looks pretty damn good. but would he be good for the jews...
syngas, i just viewed the clip of gore you provided the link for. (thanks). i'm guessing that the point you were making was about gores' apparant warmongering against iraq in that speech. i would like to ask you, though, if you personally disagreed with anything he said there. just curious. :)
Actually Jonathan,
I was hoping to make the point that Gore, like all politicians bases his stances on what the opposition is doing. If Bush Sr. had chosen to invade Iraq, Gore would have been against it. Since Sr. didn't invade Iraq, Gore was for it.
