I dont know why in any of these torture 'debates' or statements, the lessons learned by the Israeli police is never mentioned. They have developed advanced techniques, avoiding torture, to get reliable information.

This after years of experience learning that torture does not work or provide reliable information.

We are making many of the same mistakes, but not using or talking about information from successful interogations.

There was a very good John Pilger documentary about the war on terror (I forget the name) but ithad various high ranking people in Washington saying how the U.S. is in a "pre-fascist" state. At the time I thought that was stretching it (2003?), now I'm not so sure.

I'm in Germany. Most people here are well informed on, or even have firsthand experienced with fascism. Yes, I'm well aware that the US still beats out most countries, but it's far from the bright beacon of freedom, justice and liberty that many expect it to be.

The Justice Dept. scandal might create a bipartisan coalition to bring back the rule of law.
