Everytime I have a discussion with NRA zombies about gun control, they keep on making the point that guns are needed to protect the constitution. I keep on reminding them that the bill of right has been shredded and I failed to see them NRA militias on the street protecting our bill of rights. Some of them, can't even recite me all articles of the constitution nor amendments (besides the 2n), much less tell me what the bill of rights is about. How can one claim to defend with his/her life something he knows very little about.

Unfortunatedly, whenver they make the point that an armed population would make everyone more "polite," I can point at Iraq. That is an example of an armed population, I just fail to see the explosion of politeness.

Russert is capable of being a serious person. Doesn't he feel a bit stupid reviewing the tough investigative work on whether a presidential candidate has hunted or not? I guess everyone simply accepts that it's normal and reasonable that being a hunter is a big plus for a presidential candidate. Why not ask him if he's an avid comic book collector, how much he knows about the NFL, or what his chess rating is? I guess when you're an empty shell of a candidate, your hobbies become very very important.

I happen to believe civilians should have the right to own firearms, and I find the bickering over gun legislation tiresome and counterproductive. Gun registration should be enforced, and let's leave it at that.

I think there are a lot of other less contentious issues that could be worked on in order to curtail needless death. And, I submit that it would be more productive to focus on the violent criminal, and less on what weapon they choose to use.
