I'm kind of surprised that nobody's commented on this particular entry, especially the last link.
I've seen some strange, strange leaps of logic from O'Reilly before, I'm sure. However, equating the connection of Iran's treatment of its prisoners VS the United States' treatment of its prisoners to the States for the Iran situation itself is ludicrous on a level I can't even begin to describe.
Have the States even been involved in this situation yet, besides as an ally of Britain? I didn't think so, but I haven't been following politics as closely as I could be so maybe I missed something.
One of the interesting things I saw in that video was the expediency with which Ms. Wright's mic was cut off. Seemed way too quickly for an actual request to be put through. It was as if O'Reilly himself had a button under his desk or someone else was sitting there with their finger over the button, just waiting for the call.
The Nevadan Democrats were at least partially right. Putting a media embargo on FOX, or even just O'Reilly, could be the best tactical move the Democrats make between now and '08.
James,
You don't think it helps Democrats when they go on O'Reilly's show and he acts like an ass? I consider myself to be fairly conservative but it's not hard for me to see that O'Reilly is a self-promoting grandstander who has no interest in reasonable discussion. I'm a firm believer in letting your opponent dig his own grave.
Norm (& Tristan),
I love the xkcd link - wasted a couple of hours there! (Well, I have taken several cartoons and inserted them into my lectures, so it isn't a total waste.) Here's one that is especially appropriate for your site:

Love xkcd!
The Hitchens quote in 'Comment is free' reminds me of a line from his essay in Slate from last February on the subject of the Mohammed cartoon debate:
"The babyish rumor-fueled tantrums that erupt all the time, especially in the Islamic world, show yet again that faith belongs to the spoiled and selfish childhood of our species."

I love onegoodmove readers who share their great links. I don't post all of them, but if one really strike my fancy like this one did you'll see it. Thanks again to Tristan for sharing.
re: "fac president assaulted"- so, this is the 1st violent hate crime againt an atheist for being an atheist? you mean, no atheist has ever been assaulted for being an atheist before? while i find this hard to believe literally, it would explain why so many jews become atheists- its safer. call me if you need any victimhood/martyrdom advice. or you could be proactive and take it straight to stage two martyrdom, the muslim version, where you become a martyr by killing OTHER people. :)
poor little fledgelings. you're bringing it on yourselves, you know. just assimilate! oh, wait, that didn't work in germany. it seems to work ok in america, though. maybe because americans aren't germans. its a tricky buisiness, this victimhood thing.
have i been aggravating enough yet? :)
